For a comprehensive answer as to why they call -themselves- transhumanists you'd need to invest your time into their fan-fic... Excuse me, read some of their press copy. It's bullshit, to a letter, as the silicon valley Sacramento tech-bro scene is in function a eugenics movement as much as anything else.

Personally I find the term transhumanists too much like propaganda. For one they don't have any intent of transcending humanity, simply to consolidate power using a mix of very old and new technologies. Secondly, there's a better name for these dickwads, Dark Enlightenment or #TESCREAL It's a more functional way of naming a movement that spans subgenres in the tech-sector.

”Future’s already here. It’s just unevenly distributed”, Silicon Vallley thought.

”So if we want to get to the future quicker, what if we make it even more unevenly distributed?” they extrapolated.

After reading the reasons why we couldn’t just turn off a malicious AI, I’m convinced the AI fans think we’re all NPCs. So many of the arguments come down to “it’ll be smarter, so it can convince the person not to.”

These people have obviously never tried convincing an adult to do something they don’t want to or dissuade them from an action they’re committed to. I’d say “we aren’t dogs,” but even getting a dog to do what you’d like is a massive undertaking.
