Was never able to see [or, tbh, wanted to] the more recent series. Against my better judgement, tonight chose to try the original older movie. So far [~1/3 thru] tis just revolting, with me having to constantly suppress the urge to scream & swear. Unsure if i'll be able to finish it. So repugnant.

Ghastly ofc in its own right, but triply so considering world affairs atm. 😡🖕 🤢🤮

Man #TheHandMaidsTale has gotten really interesting this season

I'd begun to feel like they (the writers/producers) had the problem where they didn't really know how to land the plane

I mean, it's a hard problem. It's a really big plane! Gilead isn't going away. There's no putting the USA back together, at least not in the lifespan of this TV show. So I don't know how you resolve that

But, at least as of s06e08, they've been exploring some really interesting character development as well as a potential future for many of the characters that isn't mutually exclusive with Gilead's continued existence

The Handmaid's Tale S06 (2025)

Está bien. Está bien que hayan terminado ya de sacar más temporadas de este sinsentido.

El planteamiento de la serie (y del libro) estaba genial: una historia sobre vivir bajo el cristofascismo y (a través de flashbacks) de cómo llegó a surgir. Pero la segunda y tercera temporadas fueron repeticiones de la primera, y a partir de ahí la protagonista deja de ser una criada y se convierte en un símbolo de la resistencia durante TRES temporadas más. Casi pasa más tiempo fuera de Gilead que dentro.

No sé, técnicamente no está mal y cuenta una historia, pero no es ni la historia ni el tema que interesaba de esta serie.
