@nielso I assume when you say interesting instances, do you mean #tilvids and #makertube ?

I get that 720 isn't optimal but HD is almost always sufficient, 4k is unnecessary for quality, given how streaming video is usually consumed IMHO, and storage for these "free" services is expensive.

Have you ever considered going with a managed hosted or self hosted option?

@curtisjamesholt great tips! Have you ever considered mirroring your content on #peertube and doing the whole #foss #fediverse experience? As you're likely aware, it's easy to setup and adds the ability for people to follow what your post from any fedi client and even comment, boost etc:)

It's also a great free backup for if/when YT goes wrong like #blender discovered a few years ago.

@ralen I do, but I don't rely on any one instance's network/front page. I tend to use my account like an aggregator. I search the wider network, and when I find some I like I follow them...it takes a while but over time you gain a decent subscription list.

I really can't stand YouTube anymore and don't want to feed the beast.
