Back from a hike in the woods. The weather was fantastic today, air temperature between 16°C and 19°C, and a constant mix of sunshine and clouds, so I had decided to extend my tour a bit.

The sun is just risen up to the left of the picture behind the leaves of an apple tree. The sky in the picture looks more gray than the blue I see, and the horizon in the picture looks more orange than the pink. I see. In the mid ground you can see the rows of corn which I caught at the right angle for you to see, and in the foreground, some shrubby green bushes.

A 16:9 shot of mostly the sky that goes in a gradient from bottom to top, bright blue to deep blue. The bottom of the shot is covered with just the upper part of a forest, in the distance. The bottom right of the shot has a flat, white cloud, again, in the distance. This rather simplistic (if not boring picture) is graced by a fly that has gottent accidentally in the shot and is in focus, looking rather big and out of proportion when compared to the rest of the objects in the distance. In fact, as big as a bird in the distance.

I have one tree in my garden. It was almost certainly planted, rather than growing there naturally, and it seems to be an ornamental pear.

I gave it a severe pruning in the early Spring and, as usual, it has put on a huge amount of growth.

It was covered in blossom a couple of months ago, then the leaves appeared, and then the fruit. It's a good year for fruit this year. There are clusters of these little hard fruits all over the tree.

What I don't understand is why someone chose to plant an ornamental fruit tree. They could have had beautiful blossom AND edible fruit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Three small green fruits amongst leaves. Each fruit is less than 2cm across and looks like a tiny apple but I think they are pears.
The leaves are relatively large compared with the fruit, dark green with clearly visible lighter coloured veins. The leaves are slightly curved like a taco.

Bonjour. I walk in the woods a lot and it's entirely scientific to say that the woods is not just dirt, green stuff and a few animals: it's a symbiotic community. Life living together creates this environment.
