A #TTC report last year found that installing platform edge doors at all subway stations would save $16M per year from reducing delays, & $92M in the social cost of injuries & deaths. Doors for Bloor-Yonge were announced in 2023 but no funding was allocated. Why not? Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, Copenhagen & Seoul have all successfully retrofitted their subway systems with platform edge doors!

Having the new Finch West LRT shut down for two days straight because of a snowstorm is downright bonkers! Subway vs LRT talk aside, there is a heck of a lot of blame that needs to go around over the mishandling of this project if other LRT's like Waterloo's ION run fine! #TTC #TOpoli #ONpoli

I was hoping that all those Finch LRT closures were just part of the learning process to operate it.

Now with the line shut down on the day AFTER a storm, I wonder if the whole engineering of it is wrong.

Going to be much more expensive to fix.
