Another #bikepacking event and another broken #Tailfin rack (not mine). I can't think of another #cycling accessory that seems so prone to failing at the one thing it's meant to do. Its popularity defies logic.

Spacers for the axle were not needed. Only 50mm tires might be a little tight.

Fazit nach einer Woche in den Alpen mit verschiedensten Wegoberflächen, Anstiegen, Abfahrten, Kurven und täglich wechselnden Unterkünften: Ich möchte definitiv nicht mehr zur #Arschrakete zurück, der #Tailfin-Gepäckträger trägt auch die beiden Ortlieb Frontroller perfekt und ohne Wackelei/Geräusche 🤷

Morgens und abends mit je einem Handgriff die Taschen ein-/ausklicken und fertig. Kein Gefummel, Gestopfe und ggf. erneutes Packen mehr - großartig! Wenn jetzt noch die großen Ortlieb-Taschen dran passen, wäre es perfekt. Dann passt auch der abendliche Einkauf mit rein und ich kann den Mini-Rucksack Zuhause lassen.

Getting ready for a little #bikepacking #adventure.

The #Tailfin #AeroPack has been quite a pricey upgrade, but I wouldn't want to miss it anymore.

It's going to be the last trip for my #WTB Raddlers (44mm) which definitely show their mileage and have had a mysterious puncture each that I did not quite get to the bottom of.
They'll be replaced with a pair of #Specialized Pathfinder Pro (42mm).

Looking forward to #nature, being alone, enjoying the #silence, letting my thoughts roam freely.

Endlich mal dazu gekommen den Tailfin-Gepäckträger mit Beladung auf der Straße zu testen.

Zwischenfazit nach 50 Kilometern auf unterschiedlichen Belägen usw.: Fährt sich super, es wackelt auch bei groben Kopfsteinpflaster absolut nichts und sogar vom Schwerpunkt her finde ich es deutlich angenehmer als die frühere große Arschrakete.

Das hatte ich ehrlich gesagt nicht erwartet, weil die Taschen für meinen Geschmack etwas weit hinter der Hinterachse hängen. Gefühlt wirkt der Gepäckträger sogar steifer als die fest verbauten Gepäckträger an den anderen Rädern, auch wenn ich dafür gerade noch keine Erklärung habe...

Got a #Tailfin 10l Fork Pack for my Canyon Grizl (Carbon Fork). For the price I‘m a little disappointed with the rounded mount which presses into the mostly flat carbon of the fork (fortunately I did not tighten it to more than 1Nm). I‘m a little concerned this dents / breaks the carbon with more force.

The #Ortlieb Fork Packs specifically have optional spacers to ensure the mount presses against the metal screw housing in the fork, not against the surrounding carbon material.

Ladies & Gents, we have a #Tailfin in the house.

Quick check that the thru-axle fits, which it does, the rest will be done after work. 😎

All pieces for the Sweden trip in 6 weeks do come together, the bike is nearly ready. Yay. Still a long wait though. 🤦‍♀️

@haraldkliems @hye I have done multiple 8-10 day trips using the Ortlieb seatpack. You have to stuff and compress it really good and you won't have issues with it dropping. My setup is in the picture, i carry all my camping/sleeping gear in the handlebar bag.

But, as it is tedious to open and then compress and close the seatbag during the day when you need something, I'm switching to a #Tailfin #AeroPack now. Way more expensive, way more practical for longer trips - I hope 😁

Hatte letztes Jahr ein #Tailfin fürs #Bikepacking mit Frau gekauft. Leider nicht aufgegepasst und den short top stay bestellt. Per Mail angefragt ob gegen den längeren austauschbar ist und eine schöne Mail mit Bildern bekommen, wie man auch ohne Neukauf eventuell zurechtkommt. Sehr schön.

"Der Rahmen-Bolzen ist zu kurz, du brauchst den langen. Oje, das am Bolzen befestigte #Tailfin #AeroPack kollidiert nun mit der #SON #Rücklicht Halterung, das passt nicht. Du kannst die Halterung umdrehen. Das ist zwar nicht so vorgesehen, könnte aber passen. Es passt, aber nun sieht die Leitungsführung komisch aus. Alles nochmal ab und die Führung umlegen. Fertig, sieht gut aus. Mist, du hast die Rollentraineraufnahme vergessen. Die brauch auch noch Platz..."
