Well broadly speaking I very much enjoyed starting the day with the Look At Life episode about port radar on #TalkingPicturesTV (and the massive anchors!), but the way each episode of the venerable 60s documentary series ends with an onscreen exhortation to TAKE A LOOK AT LIFE is a bit intense.

Like, you can't make me mate. I would much, much rather take a look at literally anything other than life right now, and it's a shame they didn't have content warnings for that kind of messaging back in Yesteryear.

Maybe they could do a hip edgy reboot called Look At The Absolute Bleeding State of Your Life

A scene from the promo for the movie "Went The Day Well", a tale of plucky English ordinary folk repelling an insidious invasion by forces of Nazi Germany. A middle-aged man with a pipe and flat cap bends over a memorial stone in a graveyard pointing at the name son the memorial. He is wearing a flat cap, this seems significant somehow

"Jenny Syde" ?! WTF? That's never someone's real name, surely.

Calling all fellow Doctor Who nerds.
I am watching The Salvage Gang (1958) on and so far have spotted three connections:
(1) Frazer Hines (Kim)
(2) Roberta Tovey's Dad, George (Alf)
(3) In one scene, a very prominent Police Box.
Have I missed any others?

Well, that was weird - I've just seen Stuart Damon on The on - *singing* ?! (Well, sort of).
Did William Gaunt ride a unicycle?
Did Alexanra Bastedo play the spoons?

One of the best things about watching old repeats of Wheel-Tappers on is spotting the stupidest 1970s hair styles. 🙂

This has to be the lowest budget 'production' of all time.
Dear Noel Cronin, Please stop it immediately or I may have to send Mike some 'special' biscuits.
Thanks.

Holy crap - has anyone else come across "The Heritage Chart Show" on .
The imagery appears to be completely generated (possible even the 'music' is from an AI generated parallel nightmare universe since I've never heard of any of it.)
Also, where's the logic in using Morris Benton's Broadway font to suggest 'the olden days' when we're only talking about the 1980s or 1990s?!
I'm not sure it's even the real .

@keefeglise that would get a parental advisory at the start if it was on #TalkingPicturesTV
Jack Hargreaves does.

Does anyone else here regularly watch on ?
I'd never heard of that 'special' backronym for OMO mentioned my Mike and Noel. How very interesting.

Oddly, I don't think I've ever seen "First Spaceship on Venus" (1962) before. What a strange mixture of good set design and lighting, up to date science and atrocious acting. I especially like the idea that they have a base on the Moon and a gigantic (non-spinning) spaceship with 'artificial gravity' but that they've never thought of taking a closer look a Venus prior to happening upon a lump of alien spaceship debris.

playing a gay Welshman (unless that's just his Welsh accent) in (opposite ) is a real gem. No, it's not just the accent.

I so love 🙏

And barely getting a look in.

@rivets
The 90's series is French with Bruno Cremer. He's superb and I'm watching the series free to air on (in UK). I never miss it. They have some real gems and this is one, far better than Rowan Atkinson.

While waiting I've just seen a young Brian Cox in Manhunt (1970) which was a treat.

I don't remember how good the eighties BBC series was but I probably wouldn't have liked it at the time.

Currently watching the OG #WorzelGummidge #ChristmasSpecial with #JonPertwee in the role, on #TalkingPicturesTV channel.

It is quite sincere and touching. Although you have to admire the director's quite heroic, but in vain, attempts to hide that the trees in the background are in full leaf and it was clearly filmed in July or something.
