Assuming our share of #TechnologicalSovereignty is vital to change our role as consumers in a digital ecosystem.
Why? Because by doing so, we feel more knowledgeable and empowered. We assume more conscious digital behaviours.
When we open a free social network like Mastodon, we become aware of all the advertising we avoid (which consumes a lot of data). We get used to deleting old posts because we know they overload the server. Because we know the admin and we understand some of his decisions regarding managing limited resources. And we even limit the number of Gifs and change them for our cool emojis 😉.
And so we are once again aware that our data "weighs", "consumes", and "is expensive". But we are also more empowered. 💪

The new "FTI-Pakt" has been published today. It will shape Austria's #research and innovation policies from 2024 to 2026. Focussing on, among other things, #technologicalsovereignty , #researchinfrastructure , and building #innovation #ecosystems e.g. for #quantumtechnologies, it is very much in line with the issues the Austrian Council is working on. Today, the Austrian Council invited stakeholders of the Austrian Innovation System and experts in Quantum Technologies to talk about #technologicalsovereignty. We discussed a lot of new ideas (and a few quite known ones) regarding ways to achieve #sovereignty #freedomtooperate #StrategicAutonomy. Next to #IPCEI and other rather large-scale projects a few surprisingly low hanging fruits were also identified such as the residence permits for highly qualified employees from abroad.
Four days from now, the #Austrian Council hosts the first national Forum on Technological Sovereignty. Focussing on quantum information technologies, two groups of experts, representing Austria's #RTIpolicy and the Austrian/German #quantumIT community, will try to jointly develop ideas for Austria to utilise its current position in quantum IT as a means to secure future competitiveness and contribute to Europe's #technologicalsovereignty.
