A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect through 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, for Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, southern Itasca, Lake, Pine, and southern and central St. Louis counties. It could expand east into northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.

Visibility levels in the Northland around 8 p.m. on January 7, 206, are reduced from the maximum 10 miles due to fog forming in the region. They range from one-half mile in Ashland to 10 miles in Ironwood. Most locations are around 3 to 5 miles.

Fog will be dense at times throughout Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with visibility below one-quarter of a mile. The fog could also have freezing drizzle tonight when the temperature is below freezing.
