End of the year inventory:

1. Linux alternatives for a phone and watch on the way so I can tell Google and Apple to fuck right off.

2. Buckeyes lost their playoff game, but they had a good run and there is always next year.

3. My rescue critters are happy and healthy. I assume. They haven't tried to kill us, especially the cat.

4. My mental state is questionable, but I worry less every time the leader of the free world gets air time. What a psycho.

2025 war eine Herausforderung. Krisen, Kriege, Katastrophalen, Demontage der Demokratie, Vergrößerung der Schere zwischen Arm und Reich. Trotzdem bin ich dankbar. Dankbar für dieses Jahr, dankbar für alle Erlebnisse, dankbar für alle Begegnungen, dankbar für alle Liebe und Hinwendung, dankbar für meinen Körper und meinen Geist, dankbar für Kleines und Großes. Dankbar, dass die Dankbarkeit in mir größer ist als Kummer, Ärger, Zorn und Angst.

Dankbarkeit ist Medizin und Waffe. Dankbarkeit schützt davor so zu werden, wie die ewig Unzufriedenen.

2025 was a challenge. Crises, wars, disasters, the demolition of democracy, the widening gap between rich and poor. Nevertheless, I am thankful. Thankful for this year, thankful for all the experiences, thankful for all the encounters, thankful for all the love and affection, thankful for my body and my mind, thankful for the small and the big things. Thankful that thankfulness is greater in me than sorrow, anger, rage, and fear.

Thankfulness is medicine and weapon. Thankfulness protects from becoming like those who are eternally unsatisfied.

As I settle down for my cup of tea before bed, my thoughts begin to settle. Its been a day of peace, calm, quiet for me. I've enjoyed good food, lovely drinks, good company. I've enjoyed warmth, comfort, peace. That is privilege. I am very thankful for what I have. I don't have much, my bank account is often low, my heating is rarely on, my health is horrendous and I am seeing signs of my teenage health problems appearing for my son. Despite all of that, I am so very rich. I have a roof over my head, plenty of food, my books and crafts, a son I enjoy spending time with and he enjoys his time with me. I have some wonderful friends on the fediverse who brighten my days and keep me connected to the world. I have everything I need. I'm thinking of those that don't have these things. I have spent many years struggling, and in those times of need, people have helped me, for them, I am always thankful. They helped me keep a roof over my head, to give my son Christmas, to keep me alive when I didn't think I would make it. I'm proud to have been able to pay it forward a little this year.
Time to finish this cup of tea and then head to bed with the hot water bottles, cats and a good book.

Two of the nurses at mom’s rest home took her and a friend on a drive into the mountains to see the buffalo herd in Genessee Park last week. She was thrilled and tells me all over again about it every time I call.

Glad to know the herd is still flourishing there after 45 years since I last saw them.

I had such a lovely day. I woke up, went to the gym an hour before opening, went back home and never went back to the gym. But I did advance some projets. Bought a bike, dishwasher, apartment furniture. All through worker coops, nonprofits & individuals! Then saw an amazing play a friend recommended. Really, truly thankful as hell. Also thankful my work paid me early for Xmas and I could do this stuff. (Even if I give 0 shits about Xmas)
