"Le Passeur de Prospera" de Justin Cronin 😍😍😍
Ayant beaucoup aimé sa précédente trilogie Le Passage, j’étais curieuse de découvrir le nouveau roman de Justin Cronin, Le Passeur de Prospera.
J’ai globalement beaucoup apprécié ma lecture. Le début est particulièrement accrocheur, l’auteur nous propulsant sans aucune explication dans un lieu a priori idéal, caché du reste du monde, à l’abri de tout. Proctor y mène une vie tranquille, aux côtés de son épouse. Il apprécie son travail de passeur, consistant à accompagner les retraités jusqu’au ferry les menant sur une île pour y être « réitérés ». Tout se passe à merveille jusqu’au jour où il doit y conduire son père et que celui-ci lui murmure : « Le monde n’est pas le monde. Tu n’es pas toi. » Commencent alors une remise en question de ce monde paradisiaque et une quête de vérité.
Ce roman mystérieux révèle petit à petit ses clés. Quand on pense avoir tout compris, une révélation surgit, balayant au passage nos suppositions. Justin Cronin a su encore une fois créer une histoire passionnante. Seuls bémols : quelques longueurs, et je n’ai pas ressenti de réelle surprise quant aux révélations finales (je dois lire trop de SF !). Il n’en demeure pas moins que j’ai été happée par ce roman, à la fois addictif et émouvant.

Book 87 The Ferryman by Justin Cronin
Enjoyable and intriguing. Complex and diverse.
I found the ending a bit underwhelming but overall it was a very good read.
Best not to read too much about it to avoid spoilers, though, because it's a story that really takes you to unexpected places.

So back in April, or May of this year, I met the author, Justin Cronin at a book signing a signing here in Boston. He had just come out with a new book, called the ferryman. I recently got the ferryman through Apple books, and I love it so far. The book is about 18 hours long, and I have just gotten started with it. #Reading #Books #TheFerryman #JustinCronin.
Okay yeah this episode was pretty great.
In fact, I'm inclined to say, whether or not you intend to watch the series, #TheFerryMan episode 5 is a good watch.
While it hints at a developing meta plot, it's self contained enough to watch it without spoiling yourself much, or getting lost.

I started a new review copy yesterday! I've never read Justin Cronin before, but the weird dystopian utopia sci-fi premise of this one kinda caught me. I'm not very far in, but it's been compelling so far. Lots of genetic manipulation to create ideal humans and social laws in place that sound benign on the surface but really aren't. I'm interested to see where this goes.
'eyyyyy I just got approved for the ARC for The Ferryman by Justin Cronin! I'm kind of a fan of dystopian sci-fi, so I'm super interested to see how this turns out.
