Yesterday I watched #thepowerofthedog and was half paying attention most of the way through. I totally missed the point that Benedict Cumberbatch's character was also gay (the whole premise). It was weird seeing him play an abusive character when he seems super nice in reality. The scenery was very Jane Campion. Kirsten Dunst has changed- in a good way. I recommend if you appreciate modern-made westerns. 4/5 stars.

5. #Land (new). 7/10. Robin Wright is good and there’s a hint of #Wild to it, but without the depth of emotional resonance. Beautifully shot and good folksy soundtrack.

6. #TheRaid (new, for me) 9/10. Fantastic fight scenes albeit verging on the superheroic number of hit points…definitely see the DNA of #Dredd in this and vice versa.

7. #ThePoweroftheDog (new). 9/10. Very under the skin psychological tension. All four leads excellent. Quietly disturbing.

@SaltiredPopcorn Interesting! I loved #inthecut and watched it multiple times, but that was a while ago. I’ve yet to see #thepowerofthedog, but haven’t felt drawn to it, really.

So that is a slight bit of context, and an excuse to mention some other big names people may enjoy. Someone like #janecampion has been hit and miss for me (hated #inthecut but loved #thepowerofthedog) and I view hashtags and lists as nothing more than a fleeting snapshot of potential conversation starters and chances for connections. 😀😀
