At long last, my OG #Nest #thermostat will very soon become unmanageable and won’t receive updates from the mother ship. Considering it’s older than my 12 year old, it’s had a marvelous run… and I avoided ever having to Google it.
So now I’m looking for a thermostat that can do #Matter, #Thread, and Apple #HomeKit. My goal is no additional enshitified clouds.

Fortunately I hadn't bricked the #xiaomi sensors with the custom #firmware. It looks like the display driver is now done with #spi which isn't supported - hence the frozen/blank screens. Reverting to the original firmware got everything running again. I was able to follow instructions for extracting the #BLE keys so #homeassistant can see the data.
Next step is some sort of #thermostat loop with the portable radiator so the kids can bring their den/shed up to temp when needed.
