I wanted to participate in #ThickTrunkTuesday with this picture I took yesterday on the corner of South Carrollton Ave. and Willow St. in #NewOrleans #Louisiana. This #LiveOak has a lot of character, and the recent rain made its impressive growth of #ResurrectionFerns very happy. This street is lined with similar trees along its length.

The background is an urban street with buildings visible on the other side of South Carrollton Ave. in the foreground is an impressive Live Oak with a single thick trunk that spits into many twisted branches well above head height. The trunk and branches have a heavy growth of dark green Resurrection Ferns that are fully unfurled due to the recent rain.

a tall tree, I think it might be Monterey cypress, whose thick trunk splits several feet up into two. It is on a plateau with other trees arranged sparsely and a view of a lower-lying urban area in the distance

Tree trunk with strings of different colors of LED lights following the contour of the trunk and branches as part of an luminary art installation at the local botanical gardens. Usually the installations are not lit during the daytime. The lines of lights change colors so the colors seen in this shot are different from a few minutes before and after the picture was recorded. There are also vines that have been trained climbing up the tree. Other bushes and plants are next to and behind the tree.
