Throwback Thursday - Turkey Day

When my Batwife spatchcocked a turkey and cooked it on our Weber grill. In November. In Ohio.

Bob Belcher would be proud.

Description by Gemini Fast: A close-up, vertical shot of two bright yellow Blanket Flowers (Gaillardia species or similar composite flower), with the one in the foreground in sharp focus. Each flower has a vibrant yellow-orange central disc and broad, slightly ruffled yellow ray petals. A small water droplet glistens on a petal of the front flower. The background is composed of dark green, out-of-focus foliage.Description by Gemini Fast: A vertical close-up of a stunning white Cactus Dahlia flower, characterized by long, narrow, pointed petals that curl inwards, giving it a spiky appearance. The center of the flower has a soft, creamy yellow tint. The bright sunlight catches the texture of the petals, and the background is a soft blur of green and brown stems.Description by Gemini Fast: A vertical, close-up photograph of a single red Dahlia flower, likely a single or collarette type. The petals are a rich, velvety red, surrounding a bright, contrasting yellow central disc composed of tiny florets. The flower is supported by a thin stem against a dark, blurred background of brown and green.

Smurfs Log: Hidden in a small envelope inside a large box

* Part of the "Housecleaning (Things Left in My Mom's House)" series

My dad, who was born in 1924, never talked much about World War II. I found a box containing a lot of things. Inside was an envelope marked ‘Wartime photos’.

A vintage photograph with a white border and decorative, scalloped edges. In the photograph, a group of five men dressed formally is standing in front of a storefront with large glass display windows. Several signs are visible in the window. One prominent sign reads, "F.A. STERK & Zn."

This shop belonged to my great-grandfather and grandfather. The windows are packed with merchandise, including textiles, linens, and household goods. My father stands partially in the shadows of the doorway behind his father and brothers.

For your Throwback Thursday consideration: I know many of you have been spending time this holiday season shopping with family. I feel for you 😅 Here are 10 supermarket episodes that remind us of those family shopping moments. These sitcom store runs will feel familiar in the best way.

ServerSide.Swift was another conference taking place in a museum, the Science Museum in London.
I had to go back during the weekend to visit the Mathematics and Information Age halls.
The later hosts an interesting series of computers.

Here is the Control Data 6600, probably the first successful super computer.
Designed by Seymour Cray, it is considered one of the first RISC architecture.
I ❤️ the design of the screens, it reminds me of foldable opera glasses.
