Swinging Mace is some killer deathy shit. The whole thing is great, but the last song is "They Live", and it's an epic that's over 9 minutes long. 'Necrotic Terror' is a damn cool record and I keep coming back to it lately.

This week's #ThursDeath is EP 'Voidspawn Sacrifice' from last year by northern Italy's IGNOBLETH. This is death with dynamics, it has both faster and sloggy parts, and it also has some black metal touches (kinda war metal). And these guys are doing it well. The band members are super young, in their teens (16 and 17 as of last year), and already making amazing shit like this. Hope they keep it up. These three songs (plus a short-ish intro track that isn't too bad) are great.

I'm always down for more gross, grody death metal, so we have to talk about Portland, Oregon's AUTOPHAGY and their debut LP from 2022, 'Bacteriophage'. Over these 9 tracks, there are endless grotesque, churning OSDM style riffs, tons of drum dynamics, and those cavernous, deep, guttural vocals. Hope we get another from these guys soon. A masterful record.

This week's #ThursDeath is new LP 'Pestilential Hymns' by Kansas' THAUMATURGY. The vocals on this one are a wild mix of BOTH classic death (Death style) and cavernous OSDM style growls, sometimes even together. This one's a must-hear. Pestilential Hymns is a contender of an album this year- unique, catchy, riffs for days.
