A very happy 90th birthday to Lee Meriwether!
Lovely Lee has appeared in many of my favourite TV series and films, including, of course, Star Trek and Batman (as far as I’m concerned, she is still the best movie Catwoman). But it was when Lee played Dr Ann MacGregor on The Time Tunnel that a very young Roo first lost his heart to her.

@karlos If you don't want to watch all 30 episodes of The Time Tunnel before trying the Big Finish series, I would suggest you at least watch the pilot, 'Rendezvous with Yesterday,' and an episode called 'Secret Weapon.'
The first episode will introduce you to the original characters and the basic premise. 'Secret Weapon' is set in Rakervia (though it wasn't called that in the episode), which is important to the audio series.

I remember getting ridiculously excited on New Year's Day, 1971, because Granada TV had scheduled a random episode of The Time Tunnel to air. My then local ITV station had dumped the series the previous September, after a run of eleven episodes, so 9 year-old me was really hoping the series was back again. Well, it was and it wasn't. The Time Tunnel DID return - but for only two weeks in November, 1971, and that was it.

My Saturday morning double bill: Star Trek engages in an 'Errand of Mercy' while The Time Tunnel visits 'The Alamo.'
Both episodes were filmed on the same set. The Time Tunnel used the disused fort set on the Desilu 40 Acres lot in October 1966. Star Trek filmed there two months later, in January 1967 (previous to that, portions of the set had appeared in the Rigel VII scene from 'The Cage').

Today is the 115th anniversary of actor Whit Bissell's birth.
If, like me, you grew up watching television in the 1960s and '70s, you'll know that Whit Bissell seemed to crop up in every American TV series going. Of course, it is his role as Lt. General Heywood 'Woody' Kirk in The Time Tunnel that is my favourite.
When I was a boy, General Kirk seemed ancient. Now, I'm actually older than Whit was when he filmed the series...yikes!
