I hate when things can't be opened non destructively - that said, I get it with chargers, and with that in mind: legit I'm so impressed with Smasnugs quality here, not just with the tank case but the pcb is sooooo robust. EU connector legs is definitly the first thing that will give up on these - by no fault of theirs, as it's a standard.
Neat, i've found a salvaged RJ45 "Mag-Jack" in my parts bin.
If i can figure out the pinout, i won't have to macGyver what that Ti paper calls "transformerless Ethernet over short distances" - they're describing a test setup, using 33nF ceramic caps.
Those 4 pins between the microUSBs, that's the 10/100 FastEthernet Phy breakout - i had to sand the black plastic collars of the pins down by 1mm, because it's not the usual pitch of the big GPIO on the far end.

I then went and opened up the other unit, and pulled out the input board. Under all the dust, a few things became apparent.
First, they revised the design to remove the stupid metal tab that you had to bend to be able to remove the input board without taking every other board out first. Nice.
Second, the only noticeable revision to the input board was replacing those exact yellow capacitors with a different kind of film/poly cap. Aha! Vindication perhaps?
Anyway, I was able to swap the newer input board into the older amp (after removing all the dust).
And then test, and yay! It worked great!
Nice quiet fans achieving plenty of airflow, chassis doesn’t get hot, no input popping. This 20-year old amp is ready for another decade or two of service, I hope.
And maybe I’ll get some filter foam over the front intake…

Okay, I’ve decided to not use these.
Part of my plan was to also build a stand for it, but I was hesitant because I don’t really have the space to store it when not in use.
So I had a rejig of one of my workstations and bolted it to that instead.
Then I knocked up a *really* rough splash plate out of OSB to catch any detritus.
I’m pleased with the original guards I made and the work I put into them, I just changed direction!
Interestingly, this works, but will drain the battery within an hour...
Also, the converter is only converting down, so no 15V or 20V output when the input is 12V.
Oh, and 140W by port is obviously nonsense...
