It does seem like they wouldn't be going through so many issues with development if they hadn't axed hundreds of people.

Played the demo for #UnbeatableGame and wishlisted it. Music is illegal and you're a band. And do crimes.
There are visuals for the rhythm, though L1 being down and X being up is a bit "???". Should look if controls can be changed.
But it's handdrawn, the 2.5D walking is good, and it's got some of the best stylized text dialog I've seen in a while.

Looking for a replacement for HSR has been tricky. I don’t care for active games on touchscreens, and traditional turn-based RPGs are surprisingly hard to find. I’m also hampered by my phone thinking I’m in Europe and not letting me use my US gift card money.
So a suggestion was Reverse: 1999 was made. It is turn based, though with cards. Though more in the Steam World Quest kind of way where characters have 3 cards and your hand is made up by what characters you field. The story is alright. The localization leaves something to be desired. It’s got all the Gatcha elements for good or ill.
We’ll see if I hang around with it.

I am not playing anymore is Honkai Star Rail. Love the game, but MiHoYo is strike breaking, hiring new voice actors for Stelle and Caelus, and I can’t abide by that. I mentioned this in the discord for the Warframe Dojo I mentioned and they said that what SAG-AFTRA wanted was vague, so being able to come to terms would have been difficult anyway. Now, that sounds like MiHoYo’s opinion/justification. Though even if that were true, this might be the desired endpoint. The union had been lax with union people working in non-union shops, but are hardening their stance. So this might be a way to get members off of non-union projects while making a point. Also, hurting MiHoYo’s bottom line with people like me quitting their games.
Sad to be missing out on the lore, but I’ll find something else. Already deleted off of my PS5 and Tablet, with PC and Phone yet to go.
What I am/am not playing.
Figured I might give a little update. I’ve picked Warframe up again. Previously I had been a part of various friend’s Dojos, but for whatever reason I got kicked out of the last one after 2 years hiatus. So I just found one on the internet. I think that’s really helped with my figuring out what’s going on. Asking questions where people know the answers is great. I’m much farther than I was and now have two built Prime Weapons and actually know what some of the tabbed activities are now.
It’s fun.
I do think I need a Buddhist primer on what they’re referencing though.

Been playing Warframe for a bit recently. It's fun. I'm starting to see the freemium wall, (too many frames,) but I'll deal with that when I need to.
I think the weakest part of the game is it does a poor job explaining itself on what you should be doing. I've been playing for weeks now and just rediscovered the main quests behind the Roguelike banner. I was sucking for like, 4 days because I was carrying keys that weaken you around.
But the world is interesting, the gameplay loop is fun, the frames have 2+ genders... We'll see if I keep it up.
Ordis and the Lotus don't compare to Destiny's Ghost and the cavalcade of other characters, but there is lore there.

I see what #HonkaiStarRail is doing with their 2nd anniversary stuff. With the freebies are really good banners, you're trying to get us to spend more for pulls and leveling.
Jokes on them. I'm cheap.
Castorice will just sit at level 1 for her passive global until I get around to her. Once/if I get her.
Still gonna stop playing if they bust the union too. (If you haven't heard, several English VAs have been on strike since June. SAG-AFTRA is putting pressure on non-union shops that hired union workers, (it wasn't a priority to the union before, but now it is.) That's why the Trailblazer, Dan Hung, Himeko, and others are unvoice in the English dub.)

Games I've tried for android recently:
Guardian Tales: I've played this on the Switch. Off-kilter and funny dialog and plot. The combat is reminiscent of 16bit action adventure games, and is decent. Gatcha mechanics are somewhere closer to humane than exploitative. But it does not have cross save with Android.
Sword of Convallaria - FF Tactics light. It's got a Gatcha heavy mode, but also a solid, normal-ass single player game with no Gatcha. Downside is I apparently played it in such a way that I can't access what I had done before. I'm not restarting.
On the docket to try - Infinity Nikki, Mario Kart Tour, mindustry, Kentucky Route Zero.
Mighty DOOM - a shooter based on the Doom reboots. Fun, but full of ads.
Sonic Rush (mobile)
Sonic Forces - a racer game with Sonic characters. Fun, but full of ads

Anyone have any recommendations for Android games?
Preferably ones that don't require reflexes to play. Or are 80% ad. I'd also like it <20GB. Bonus if I can play it on PC or console with the same file. Also, paying might be tricky since Android thinks I'm in Europe thanks to a VPN and won't let me use my US gift card.
My current standard is Honkai Star Rail, but with learning that the missing VAs are missing due to them striking and MiHoYo thinking about breaking the strike and replacing them, something new would be good.

I just backed Sinking City 2 on Kickstarter!
It is a 3rd person, lovecraftian action horror game made and published by Frogwares. They're a Ukrainian company still in Ukraine. I am not a huge fan of horror games, but I'll back anything they do.
The first one's controls were a bit iffy with it's shooting, and I don't think it was all intentionally bad like some horror games do. But they've switched to UE5, and added "action" to the description, so I'm hoping its more solid.
Just a word of warning there's both fish people racism and non-fish people racism in it. They say its a part of the setting and the times and would rather comment on it than ignore it. Also, if this one is like Sherlock Holmes: The Awakening, they also had a blurb telling Russia to go fuck themselves. Or something like that.

Still in a visual novel mood, so rather than pick up the Parascientific sequel, I (re) started Phoenix Wright 2. I beat 1 years ago, but never got far in 2. (Had 1 on the DS and 2 on the Wii. The Wii ports were from the GBA original, so no touch controls, which is like, the point of these games. anyway,) it goes a harder than PsE.
Just beat Parascientific Escape: Cruise in the Distant Seas.
I got this back during the 3DS firesale before online services ended. It's an Adventure game heavy on puzzles and Light Novel-like dialog. Lotta gay subtext here, though that's kinda hard to avoid when all the characters are women or a mascot.
Overall an enjoyable game. Hope they got ported to PC.
