#TransitEquity

I wish we were adequately funding public transit to the point that it was timely and convenient to take it anywhere. I wish people were *still wearing masks* on public transit and in other confined areas.

But sadly I have been taking Waymos lately to make it on time to appointments and avoid viruses. Just #cancer things.

I didn't miss the bus stop the second time. Thankfully the bus driver learned I'm autistic and helped me.

That's real advocacy.

Yelling at people who are suffering and disabled is not.

Take notes, Mastodon. You brought the Twitter energy today.

While some obsess over Zohran Mamdani’s ethnic origin, he fights for affordable housing, transit, and healthcare for NYC’s poor. If his name offends you more than thousands sleeping on the streets, that’s the real problem.

📣 We need leaders who focus on the working class not empty culture wars. It’s offensive that Mayor Adams wastes time race-baiting while rents soar, buses break down, and ER waits grow longer.

Mayor Eric Adams attacking Zohran Mamdani, NYC assemblymember and advocate for marginalized communities about him checking off an identity box by mistake.

> In 2022, [#USA] federal spending on roads totalled $52 billion. We could transform public transportation with a fraction of that sum.
> A 2020 analysis by the Urban Institute suggests that, with an additional $16.7 billion annually in federal funding, we could bring transit service in every U.S. urban area up to that of the Chicago region — doubling per-capita transit service throughout the country.

The Baltimore Transit Equity Coalition is working hard to get the best version of the Red Line through the hurdles and onto tracks ASAP.

MTA appears to be pushing for a bait and switch, turning light rail into bus rapid transit and reducing the utility and reliability of the Red Line as planned.

Sign BTEC's petition today! Tell the Governor to use the original plan!
