I finished reading 'Murderland' by Caroline Fraser. It is a grim read, intertwining personal memoir, true crime, and environmental history. Layers of stories of life in the Pacific Northwest and the abundance of serial killers operating all in the shadow of the ASARCO smelter.

It doesn't really argue the case, that childhood lead exposure underlies the rise in violent crime in the 70s and 80s or that the "Golden Age of Serial Killers" could have similar roots. Instead it layers the stories on top of each other like overlays on a map of Seattle and Tacoma and leaves the reader to draw their own conclusions.
