As far as I understand the affair, Angela Rayner got into a muddle about a complex personal tax issue and as a result of this confusion made a statement that was not true. The confusion seems to have arisen in connection with her attempting to provide for her disabled son.
Not great, but I can't get worked up about it.
What I do get worked up about is the long running campaign waged by the the Telegraph and the Mail to hound Rayner out of office.
These loathsome right wing rags cannot abide the thought of a decidedly unOxbridge, left wing, working class woman being in a position of power.
When I feel sad and angry about the BBC's willingness to be Nigel Farage's megaphone, I try to save myself from plunging into despair by remembering the kind of broadcasting which Melvyn Bragg exemplifies.
Just in case you were wondering which demographic the English political and media classes are aiming for.
Time to do a #Custerfuchs about people who have and act on personal narratives which are based around torture & murder of "others" and how the British media and establishment are currently engaging in reinforcing those narratives by projecting them onto "asylum seekers".
In a law court, knowledge that someone has those opinions would be considered evidence of "malice aforethought" or "premeditation".
Disseminating those opinions would be considered incitement and not "legitimate complaints" or "legitimate political discourse".
The essay is going to need a clever title.
Something like
"Nigel Farage is planning Genocide"
or something like that.

I no longer live in the UK, but I care about what is going on there.
I am deeply worried that GB News is beginning to do to the UK what Fox has done to the USA.
As if any effort was needed to find examples of how scummy and division-stoking the British newspapers are, and how stirred up with hate they have made *small* parts of the UK, they try to make light the resultant situation they have contributed to with their agendas.
It’s got to the stage that tents will set a small number of people off. It isn’t just hotel usage that triggers now.

• The child wasn't turned away by the NHS.
• The child wasn't eligible for the occupational therapy paid for the the local authority for children in state schools because he was a child in an independent school.
• The independent school, for whatever reason, doesn't pay for educational services such as occupational therapy.
• This is the régime set in place by the Children and Families Act 2014.
• The Conservatives Party created and enacted the Children and Families Act 2014.
• The Mail is frothing up hateful nonsense once again.
• The Tory rentagobs quoted in this piece are either thick or lying, or more probably both.
General rule of thumb: the larger the font size in a Mail screaming front page headline the greater the likelihood it is utter bollocks.
