SNOWFALL TOTALS:

After nearly 48 hours, this week's #storm system is finally fizzling out over the #Northland.

As #forecasted, the North Shore saw the highest #snowfall totals of 18 to 39 inches.

A wide swath of spots along & north of Highway 2 saw at least 6 inches.

This week's winter storm system brought the highest snowfall totals to the North Shore region of the Northland.  The highest total was recorded in Hovland at 38.6-inches.  Other totals topping the list included 28.4-inches in Finland, 24.2-inches in Lutsen, 24-inches in Silver Bay, 23.5-inches in the Two Harbors area, 21-inches in the Grand Marais area, and 18-inches in the Knife River area.This storm system provided a couple round of snowfall across the Northland.  This pushed snowfall totals to the 12 to 18 inches range in the Twin Ports and Bayfield Peninsula regions.  Totals recorded here included 17-inches in Gary New Duluth, 16.7-inches in Brimson, Minnesota, 15-inches in Washburn, Wisconsin, 14-inches in Island Lake, Minnesota, 12.6-inches in Superior, Wisconsin, and 12-inches at the National Weather Service office in Duluth.Other snowfall totals along and north of Highway 2 were in the 6 to 12 inch range.  Some of those totals included 11.7-inches in Holyoke, Minnesota, 11-inches in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, 10.8-inches in Chisholm, Minnesota, 10.4-inches in Taft, Minnesota, 9-inches in Biwabik, Minnesota, and 8.9-inches in the Ely area.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for northern Aitkin, Ashland, Bayfield, Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Gogebic, Iron, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Ontonagon, and St. Louis counties until noon Thursday, February 19, 2026 (Central Standard Time).  Additional snowfall totals in the advisory area will range from 1 to 2 inches for most locations, with 2 to 6 inches possible in the North Shore and Arrowhead regions.  Minor ice accumulation is also possible.  Wind gusts up to 45 mph are also possible, especially along the North Shore.

A bit of a surprise for the highest wind gusts measured during this storm system as it was the Twin Ports that saw gusts over 60 mph.  That include the Blatnik Bridge at 69 mph, Duluth International Airport at 67 mph, Hermantown at 64 mph, and Sky Harbor Airport at 62 mph.  Other highest wind gusts included 58 mph at the Bay of Grand Marais, and 53 mph at Range Regional Airport.As forecasted, the snowfall totals were highest along the North Shore and the highest elevations in the Arrowhead and Twin Ports regions.  That includes 34 inches in Hovland, Minnesota, 24.5-inches in Lutsen, Minnesota, 20-inches in Little Marais, Minnesota, 18-inches in the Two Harbors area, 15.6-inches in the Grand Marais area, 13-inches in Finland, Minnesota, and 12.6-inches in Esko, Minnesota.  These totals may increase as more snow is in the forecast through Wednesday night and Thursday.The rest of the Arrowhead, Twin Ports, Iron Range, and Bayfield Peninsula regions saw snowfall totals in the 7 to 12 inch range from this storm system.  That includes 11-inches in Brimson, Minnesota, 10-inches in Washburn, Wisconsin, 9.2-inches in Chisholm, Minnesota, 8.5-inches in Cornucopia, Wisconsin, 8-inches in the Duluth area, and 7.4-inches in Keewatin, Minnesota.
