I listen to Peter Mansbridge's podcast. One of today's topics was reaction to Carney's terrific Davos speech. Interesting observation, Mansbridge & guests Chantal Herbert & Bruce Anderson were not referring to Trump in the usually polite, if critical, way. They were openly referring to his comments as 'crap' amongst other things. It seems that Davos speech has allowed people to be openly derogatory in comments about the Mad King. About time.

Feels like the Dems have surrendered what little power they had....

Republicans hold a narrow majority in the House, meaning they can pass the
bill without Democratic support if they remain united. However, the razor-
thin margin means that even a handful of Republican defections could
imperil the measures passage.

Per an earlier post, House speaker Mike Johnson this morning urged
representatives to begin traveling back to Washington to vote on legislation
to reopen the government.

He told reporters on Capitol Hill that once the Senate passed its version of
the bill to end the shutdown, he would issue a formal 36-hour notice for
House members to return to Washington “so that we can vote as soon as
possible” to pass the amended bill and get it to Trump’s desk.

“There'll be long days and long nights here for the foreseeable future to make
up for all this lost time that was imposed upon us,” Johnson said. (A
reminder that Johnson could have kept the House in session during the
shutdown, but he chose not to since 19 September to pressure Democrats
into reopening the government).

Johnson to finally swear in Adelita Grijalva, over a month after
her election win

2 Chris Stein
In a development that is sure to breathe new life into the saga of the Epstein
files, a spokesman for Republican House speaker Mike Johnson said he plans
to swear in newly elected Democratic representative Adelita Grijalva as soon
as the chamber returns to session, likely later this week.
Grijalva was elected in a September special election to a seat representing
southern Arizona that her late father, Rail Grijalva, held for more than two
decades.
At the time, Johnson was keeping the House recessed in an effort to pressure
Democrats to pass a government funding bill through the Senate, and said he
‘would swear her in once he called the chamber back into session - which he
would only do once Democrats renewed government funding.
They have now done so, and Johnson said he will call the House back as soon
as the Senate votes on final passage of the bill.
Grijalva is expected to be the 218th signature on a petition that will force a
vote in the House on a bill to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the
disgraced financier and convicted sex offender who died six years ago while
facing sex trafficking charges.

because it is their Constitutional Duty.

it is the one legal and peaceful way to remove a Fascist from the White House.

If you're not demanding impeachment and removal you're supporting the orange psychopath and his regime.

There's no solid evidence that thimerosal harms children. It was removed from almost all vaccines more than 20 years ago out of an abundance of caution, but RFK Jr.'s hand-picked vaccine advisory committee is looking into it.

Paul Ryan, then Nancy Pelosi just decided to let corruption go wild, and it did.

Both have been replaced but McCarthy, Johnson, and Jeffries are also adamantly opposed to oversight and/or impeachment.

We need to completely replace Congress.

Johnson and Jeffries are blocking all impeachments. So effectively there are no longer any impeachable offenses.

"I can't imagine the mental gymnastics required to persuade yourself to vote against impeachment, *especially because* it's a symbolic vote! Forget removing a lawless president, you can't even bring yourself to formally rebuke him? Irredeemable"

Hakeem Jeffries is friends with Mike Johnson. He's not friends with AOC. That tells you everything you need to know about Dem leadership.

The only way to get the votes is to put pressure on those protecting the criminal.

Setting the bill aside indefinitely de facto kills it.

The way to get impeachment and removal is to force a vote day after day until the voters demand their reps do the right thing.

This ⬇️ is completely wrong.
