Even with all of their faults, Unifi gear has been very easy to manage for me. Now I'm eyeing their new 2u UPS and UNAS Pro. My current UPS is dying and isn't rack mounted, and my current NAS is a bit janky and is also not rack mounted.

The eternal problem rears its ugly head here again though: $$$

Well this looks interesting. A multi-gig PoE switch with Wi-Fi uplink. Seven 2.5G ports, one 10G port, and in typical Ubiquiti fashion it will support STR MLO with a future software update. store.ui.com/us/en/products/ud

Hat irgendwer eine Idee, warum sich meine #Unifi Dream Machine SE mit dem USW Pro XG 10 PoE trotz 10G Direct Access Kabel SFP+ nur mit Gigabit-Geschwindigkeit verbindet...?

End of an era. As a #sysadmin I do lots of #homelab stuff. As recent as 2021 I attended #fortinet training sessions where they'd give me a router (#fortigate), an AP (#forriap) and a #fortiswitch , all of which I'd take home and practice with to get a feel for how to best use them in enterprise environments.

However as of fortinet firmware 7.4 this practice is effectively dead. If you move off the 7.2 line, you cannot upgrade the firmware (even to point, security updates) without a support contact.

So, lots of us home lab folks are now expected to pony up $350/yr going forward. Which is simply unreasonable.

With that in mind, I've bought some #unifi AP's, and a multi-port N150 box to run #Opnsense.

I'd ditched unifi in the past because of super flaky firmware and breaking things, so that stings a bit but they largely are the only cost effective option with decent features.

I'm not looking forward to converting, but with my device falling further out of date, it has to be done.

So long #fortinet. Thanks for the unlubed fucking.

Running 5.0.4 on UCG Fiber....
Not a fun time.
Old UCG Ultra was working just fine.

Step 1 - buy 1k+ € of gear.
Step 2 - buy 100 € of geek stuff for the waifu.
Step 3 - proffit. No complaining.

It’s Christmas time @ 172.16.1.1!

Wo ist der Haken bei den #UniFi Geräten. Die sind viel zu günstig für die Leistung, oder?

I was running #Unifi Network on a #pi. Then I borked something trying to update it to #Debian 13, so I decided to switch to the new #UnifiOS. It was super easy. It even accepted a backup from the network application, so I don't have to reconfigure everything.

#Ubiquity #Unifi question:

I have 2 U7 Pro devices, broadcasting one single IoT SSID, connected to a VLAN on a separate network.

The goal is to have all IoT clients completely isolated from each other. I've already created firewall rules, but since traffic IoT <-> IoT is handled at L2, it never touches the firewall. Client isolation is active, but only works for clients connected to the same AP.

The remaining issue here is traffic between clients NOT on the same AP.

Any ideas?
