Centimorgan (Genetics 🧬)
In genetics, a centimorgan or map unit is a unit for measuring genetic linkage. It is defined as the distance between chromosome positions for which the expected average number of intervening chromosomal crossovers in a single generation is 0.01. It is often used to infer distance along a chromosome. However, it is not a true physical distance.

#RotationalFrequency, also known as rotational speed or rate of rotation (symbols ν, lowercase Greek nu, and also n), is the frequency of rotation of an object #aroundAnAxis. Its #SIUnit is the #reciprocalSeconds (s−1); other common #unitsOfMeasurement include the #hertz (Hz), #cyclesPerSecond (cps), and #revolutionsPerMinute (rpm). Rotational frequency can be obtained dividing #angularFrequency, ω, by a full #turn (2π #radians): ν=ω/(2π rad).
Tiny mistake, huge effect:
Due to a single wrong statement "day subclass of counting unit" (http://www.wikidata.org/entity/statement/Q573-b8a19c53-425d-0009-2c55-decdfeb3ff19), #Wikidata / @wikidata classifies every resource representing a calendar date, like "November 12, 1655" https://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q69107205, as unit. As a result, a query for all #UnitsOfMeasurement returns > 210.000 instead of < 7000 resources.
Picking up work on an old Java project that has it's own half-baked units of measurement API, I was chuffed to discover JSR 363 - Unit of Measurement API. Maybe I don't need to keep maintaining this custom implementation any more?
But looking deeper, it literally only has support for basic maths operations, and you can't even specify basic stuff like significant digits or rounding modes. A `BigDecimal` value of "100.00" gets coerced to an `int`.
What good is an API for strongly typing and converting physical measurements if you can't effectively perform operations on them?
New ISO standard unit of mass - or maybe volume - just dropped!
The "floof" is a little large as a base unit, so it's most commonly encountered as microfloofs, like with capacitors measured in microfarads.
It joins the other oddball units commonly encountered in news articles - volume in Olympic swimming pools, length in double-decker buses, mass in elephants, etc.

@coprolite9000 well given each country defines it's own unit of alcohol, perhaps we could all choose out own name so that there's less confusion.
The French van have the Cliquot but I think the Danish should be a Jacobsen (after the founder of #Carlsberg who was also a noted philanthropist and gave the world stabilised #yeast to make consistent #Beer),

In the 70's, we learned both the Imperial and Metric Systems of Measurement and consequently are unfamiliar with either system.
