University of Alaska workers must now have certain medical care approved by third party company EviCore.
EviCore is also known as EVIL CORE by critics who say its guidelines are "outdated," "inappropriately rigid," and delay care (per Wikipedia).

Those fighting for a University of #Alaska staff union say they are dealing with "stagnant salaries, increasing workloads, vanishing benefits, threats to job security," etc.
But so are faculty -- and they're already unionized.
Unions are no silver bullet. In fact, they are hardly a weapon.
They segregate us into different groups, each fighting as individual blocs that are limited to whatever paltry methods the capitalist state allows.
No wonder that the head of the French employers' association once said that "we have everything to lose if the unions become weaker still..."
We're not trying to quash an incipient struggle. Rather, we are doing our minuscule part to dispel illusions and kindle that spark of resistance into something fierce.
We need to fight and win as an entire workforce. No unions to segregate us or to impose legal limits. Mass struggle!
We disagree with anyone who says that staff should learn the hard way how limited and weak unions are now.

UA wants you to take 3% raises on average for the next three years. You'd need something closer to 6% to return you to your 2018 buying power.
In 2023 the avg Alaska worker got 5.2%.

With Ballot Measure 1 passing, #Alaska workers making minimum wage are going to get a 32% raise between now and 2027. Great!
Meanwhile, the #UniversityOfAlaska is proposing raises for faculty of 2-3% per year. Probably less for the vast majority of the UA workforce!
