Wanna have a job where you get to walk around on farms a lot? There are 2 job openings with the NYC Watershed Program! One for Conservation Planner (a great entry level position) and for Agricultural Program Manager. This is the program where NYC pays farmers not to pollute the water so that they don't have to spend billions on a water filtration plant for the city. Which is also why NYC is famous for having high quality tap water!

Offices are located in Delaware County. Upstate NY peeps, spread the word!

If I'd had to guess which member of an Amsterdam family had ended up on the cover of Time Magazine, I would not have guessed Laddie Sanford . . . nor would I have guessed it was for winning an English steeplechase. But I wouldn't have guessed he got fined for bringing too many dead ducks into New York, either.

The cover of Time ("The Weekly News-Magazine") from March 31, 1923. The name of the magazine and its tag line are within thin ruled boxes at the top of the page (three boxes, each within another, as well as a heavier outlines that goes all the way around the page. Decorative elements are in columns running left and right of the drawing that is the focus of the cover. The drawing, apparently graphite, depicts Laddie Sanford, a white man in three-quarter profile, weraing a light-colored fedora with a dark band. His face is pleasant and neutral; the top of his body is shown, wearing a lapelled overcoat, white shirt collar and dark necktie. Underneath he is not identified, but a slugline says "Observed by Europe / First American to win the Grand National – see page 25"

Although most mornings I've been getting my clothes dirty getting on the ground to photograph daffodils, yesterday it was snowing at my farm. Here's the view up the hill from where I park my car

.

A snow covered hill with a melted dirt driveway forming a T-shape facing the camera and past that two hay wagons and a few small trees in a flat section before a field works its way up a hill framed by winter phase trees

"Moving Day". 10 February 2015, emptying the storage unit and moving out of our place in New York to prepare for a life abroad. This was weeks before we'd make the move to Spain and start a life living as expats. This was the final removal of our stuff from my childhood home.

Final picture is a #selfie with my beard and hair iced up from the cold.

Maple #tree on the farm in #upstateny / #westernny where I grew up. My childhood farmhouse would have been in the foreground of this image (torn down in 1984.) This #autumn picture was probably taken in 2014. This is THE tree that defines "tree" to me in my mind. Still standing on Peoria Road, in Covington #newyork
