I was stalking around the local area again - as neighbourhood cryptids do -when I spotted this beautiful yellow rose that had grown through a garden fence. Supposedly, yellow roses now symbolize friendship but in Victorian times they represented jealousy and infidelity. If you ever need a rabbit hole to fall down, Victorian flower language is really interesting! 💐✨

Bok Tower in Lake Wales, FL during a garden festival midday in the spring time. The structure was created by Edward Bok, an author from the Netherlands who wanted to create a bird sanctuary in FL.

Some photos of my urban gardening experiments. The space is a 4x7 meter patio between two-story condos with few hours of sun at ground level. So the approach was to use climbing plants to form a trellis 2.5 meters high, which makes the most of the daylight hours.

On the trellis are growing chayotes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chayote), "princess" squash, and passionflower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora_caerulea).

This little cutie is an Apis Mellifera Ligustica or Italian Honey Bee. It is a subspecies of the European Honey Bee - but this one has learned how to cook pasta al dente. The flowers are from a Laurustinus. 🌼✨

A little fuzzy golden brown and black striped Italian honey bee is in the centre of the picture. It is on some small white flowers with big green leaves surrounding it. It is collecting some pollen. Its body has some yellow pollen grains stuck to it.

Would have loved a long ride for day 27 of #30DaysOfBiking, but alas, many household chores that we’ve been putting off. In addition to cleaning the (bike) garage, we spent several hours working in the garden. Once we had all the weeds out, we realized our main raised bed settled quite a bit over winter so took a ride to the market & garden center for lunch first and then compost, dirt, & a few flowers. Had to run back in the car for the volume of dirt though. #BikeTooter #food #UrbanGarden

Moosbedeckter Stein. Auf der rechten Seite rag eine mit offener Wölbung da liegende kleine Jacobsmuschel unscharf ins Bild. In der Bildmitte ein winziges, kleines Häuschen aus grauem Beton. Statt Fenster hat es 2 herzförmige Öffnungen übereinander. Dahinter noch ein Stein mit Moos und ein leicht grünlich bemoostes Pflanzgefäß mit Akanthus-Ornamentik aus rotem Ton.
