We used to be able to buy and sell stuff easily in our local area on usedvictoria.com. It was truly great and no algorithm and no sign up needed unless you wanted to sell.
Then came facebook marketplace and completely trampled the independent buy/sell/swap market places. Now its near impossible to sell anything on used vic or craigslist. We are basically forced to keep a facebook account just to buy and sell used items.
Yes, facebook marketplace does work and reaches a lot of people. However we get a lot of psychos and unserious buyers replying to ads. I think its because the facebook algorithm plops your ad into people's time line who were not not searching for anything and so just respond for the hell of it.
So thats all I have to say about that. Thanks for reading my rant.
