I remember people complained when there was talk of the Dead House on Usher's Island being converted into a youth hostel so now it is derelict with broken glass in some windowpanes and a far right poster in a window, which some people might consider a result.
Anyone who cares about #literature, #JamesJoyce or the historic fabric of #Dublin, should mind this:
A developer, who trousered β¬130 million of public money by exploiting the most vulnerable people in Ireland, now wants to turn the Usher's Island house of Joyce's story "The Dead" (also the location of John Huston's film), into "mundane" apartments.
Write to the planning authorities and Dublin City Council.

This house would be such a wonderful museum, if the State had the balls to do it - or even if a group of universities banded together to buy it and run it as a museum with a writer's studio on the top floor to be given to a different writer every year
