Something I want to start organizing, for attendees and exhibitors alike: if you’re coming to #VCFWest this year and you own a Nintendo #3DS, bring it along with you! Myself and a couple others are planning to bring ours and it’d be lovely to get some StreetPass shenanigans going.

VCF West is at the CHM in Mountain View, CA, August 1-2. I’ll be there as an exhibitor! Hopefully!

So here’s the #VCFWest #VCFWesf2024 album! There is a…lot of sea slugs involved. I also may have realized my camera’s aperture was too open a touch too late.

Ron Wayne (now 90yo), the third cofounder of Apple, was interviewed today at #vcfwest by Daniel Kottke - one of the 1st Apple employees. Interesting stories including why he bowed out of Apple.

One reason was that Jobs and Woz had no assets at the time. Ron did. He was concerned he'd be stuck paying off loans that Jobs took out in order to buy parts for their first order from the Byte Shop. The risk wasn't worth it to him.

#VCFWest day zero:

Exhibit partially died (iMac with the OS X public beta had its PSU cash in its chips), lost my glasses (before finding them again by where I set down the iMac to rest when taking it back out to the car), and am otherwise just beat, but it was a good day. Surprisingly I managed to get all my stuff upstairs without dying, for once.

I also have an ADC monitor for the Cube, finally! Though I've been faffing about trying to get it to work right.
