The Francis Lehman Loeb art center of Vassar College (in Poughkeepsie, NY) is amazing. It’s tiny, but seems to have one of everything you really want to see at much larger museums!
Here is a laquered box from the 1600’s and an enameled dove from the 1200’s.

traitor tot knows nothing of history or art so he tries to erase both. Don’t let him!

a lacquered inkstone box from the 1600’s with mountain views in gold. the lid of the box is particularly ornate. the inner part of the box is divided into sections for the inkstone and water (?)the inside of the lid is also ornately lacquered! There are mountains, birds in flight, trees next to water, a small pagoda at the end of a dock, boats in the water, and a bridge over the water. description of the lacquered box, saying it’s from the Edo period (1615-1868) and that it’s wood coated with lacquer and gold, by an unidentified artistthis is a dove covered in enamel from Limoges, FR, made in the 1200’s. the back of the dove opens, and has a small chamber which would have held communion wafers. it appears to be life-sized.

I was marching for the #era & #equal pay as a youngster (6 yrs)…

Here we are…still fighting this fight!
#vassar is still pulling this $h*t!
Shameful.

“The College has known for many yrs that it has unlawfully paid men more than women, but it has for yrs rejected our overtures & refused to address this #discrimination in any meaningful or substantive way. We are therefore compelled to voice our disapproval, the letter says.”#education #equalpay

It was definitely Greta Gerwig's movie, but I could tell that the co-writer and composer were both #Vassar folks. #Barbie

(And for bonus #Barbenheimer trivia, Jean Tatlock also went to Vassar)

For #Pride, here's a recipe from the Food for Life: ...And Other Dish cookbook.

The recipe author, Professor Paul Russell, is a (and at one point was the only) two-time Ferro-Grumley Award winning author.

A page from a recipe book. Professor Paul Russell is pictured in a leather jacket in the top right corner of the page.

Turkish Red Lentil Soup
2 small onions, finely chopped
1 TB olive oil
6 cups chicken broth
1+1/2 cups dried red (Egyptian) lentils
1 carrot, shredded
3 TBSP cumin
1 egg yolk (optional)
3 TB milk
Salt and pepper to taste.

In the bottom of a large pot, sauté the chopped onions in olive oil until golden 1, Add the chicken stock, dried red lentils, and shredded carrot. Bring to a boil; then simmer, covered, for 1+1/4 hours. Add the cumin (not too early, or a bitter taste will result). Simmer another 5 to 10 minutes, until the red lentils are more or less completely dissolved. For a heartier version, add | egg yolk and 3 tablespoons of milk at this point. Season to taste with salt and pepper. The Turks often squeeze in a bit of lemon juice as a final touch. Serves four.

“ from 2012 to 2020 the number of graduated #humanities majors at Ohio State’s main campus fell by forty-six per cent. Tufts lost nearly fifty per cent of its humanities majors, and Boston University lost forty-two. Notre Dame ended up with half as many as it started with, while suny Albany lost almost three-quarters. #Vassar and Bates—standard-bearing #liberal-arts colleges—saw their numbers of humanities majors fall by nearly half.
What’s going on?”
