This is a colour photo in landscape format of a line of yellow wellie boots outside an bar. Honningsvåg, Norway (2018).

The photo has a slight vignette, a slight darkening of the corners that highlights the centre region: Where slightly to the right of the middle is a bright yellow, sunlit and weathered rubber fisherman's boot (wellington boot). The boot is resting on a long, grey, wooden bench, built on the front of a building. Next to our wellie are eleven or more further wellies, one or two being green. Stuffed in the top of the wellies are large bunches of heather with bright pink flowering stems and green storks. In four of the boots are small Norwegian flags. The first wellie is in bright sunlight, with the others being in shadow. The first wellie is also in sharp focus with the others becoming more blurred with increasing distance.

I started off doing ambient house music, did that for a little bit, and then I discovered Triarii, and was just enchanted by this bombastic, and symphonic martial #industrial #music. does anyone know why the profile differs from the GPS device compared to the gpx track log on the PC?

Here I'm looking at today's walk. On the GPS, at 3.38km I get the elevation of 363m. On the PC I get 431m.

The profile looks more correct on the GPS btw, I know I did that hill 3 times.
On the PC it looks like I did 4 "climbs".

I just finished writing about 1300 words about the viking age runestone U 785 at Tillinge church west of Enköping. It is made of gray granite and is 1.7 meters tall and 0.8-1 meter wide. The inscription is inside a serpent with a head seen from the side. There is no cross on the stone, even though the inscription has a Christian prayer.

It has been raised after a man called Gudmund who died in Serkland. Possibly during the viking expedition by Ingvar the Far-Travelled or another expedition to the same area near the Caspian Sea. It is also possible that he worked as a varangian guard in the Byzantine empire.

The transliteration of the inscription is:
uifas-- ... : risa : s(t)in : þ(t)ino : ub : at : k-þmunt : bruþur : sin : han : uarþ : tuþr : a : srklant- kuþ halbi : ant : ans

Translated into English:
Vifast had the stone raised up after Gudmund, his brother. He died in Serkland. God help his soul.

In 1893, the #viking #ship "Viking" leaves #Bergen, due for Chicago. A recreation of the 78 feet long Gokstad ship, it began its journey in April, and arrived in July, with a crew of 13 Norwegians led by captain Magnus Anderson. It formed part of the Norway exhibit at the World's Fair.
