Wenn ich durch das Internet taumle, begegne ich ab und an auch mir völlig unbekannten Stimmen. So war es bei Berq auch, den ich bisher so ganz und gar nicht kannte. Sein melancholischer, manchmal trotzig-wütender Text von "Wenn du weinst" hat mich neugierig gemacht auf sein Debut-Album. Das rotiert nun auf dem Drehteller vor sich hin, und Berq (eigentlich Felix Dautzenberg) singt von erster Liebe, von Eltern, Gefühlsstürmen und all den Dingen, die einem als junger Mensch auf dem Weg zum Erwachsensein durch den Kopf gehen. Zugegeben kein Album für sonnige Tage, eher eines, das man hört, während draußen der Regen die Welt grau färbt und der Kaffee schon wieder eiskalt geworden ist. Mit dem Album muss man sich anfreunden, berqs Stimme und Arrangements sind nicht radiotauglich wohlgefällig, aber trotzdem ein Genuß zu hören.

There had to be a time when I knew that REM had booked into the Borderline, back in 1991, as Bingo Hand Job…but given any release of the material was pirated/bootlegged, I would have avoided it…and forgot about it until this official 2019 RSD release.
