June 8th, 2024 in 1376 marked the death of Edward Plantagenet (of Woodstock), who died aged 45 exactly 649 years ago. Being one of the famous and ruthless actors in the Hundred Years War and the only Prince of Wales who didn't become king, he was laid to rest in Canterbury Cathedral where his surcoat, helmet, shield, and gauntlets are still preserved.

Some years ago I visited Canterbury to participate in the history preserved at Canterbury Cathedral.

Bronze effigy of a medieval knight in full armor, lying supine with hands clasped in prayer. The knight's armor is intricately detailed, featuring floral patterns and chainmail elements. Behind the effigy, metal bars hint at the protective enclosure around the sculpture. The lighting accentuates the metallic texture and ornate design of the armor.

At almost twice the height of any other viewing platform in the capital, The Shard offers visitors unparalleled 360-degree views for up to 40 miles (supported by the best weather condition!) and is the definite viewpoint of London!

In this centered view on a nearing gloomy evening, it is underlined that The Shard is defining London's skyline like no other building.

This image features a panoramic view of London's skyline at a time when the sky looks overcast. Dominating the center of the image is The Shard, which is a notable skyscraper in London known for its distinctive, sharply pointed shape. Surrounding The Shard, you can see a spread of other buildings that vary in height and design, typical of a bustling city landscape. The overall mood conveyed by the cloudy sky and distant cityscape suggests a vast, gently bustling urban environment.

The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which is separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill.

It is also famous for being one of the most-infamous prisons during the Middle Ages in English history.

This image shows the Tower of London, a historic fortress and former royal palace in London, England. The photo captures a view of the tower beside the River Thames. You can see the distinct medieval architecture with the stone walls and turret-style towers topped with four spires each. The entrance called "Traitor's Gate" is visible at riverside level, historically used to bring prisoners by boat into the tower. The scene includes blue skies and some greenery around the structure, with a few people visible along the riverside walkway.

Today is May 4th so it's still the "May the Force be with you"-day. Reason enough to dig into my archive and reveal this great guy once performing in London, using the force to levitate. This picture is ten years old these days but a classic nevertheless!

This image features a street performer dressed as Yoda from "Star Wars", performing a levitation illusion on a sidewalk. Yoda appears to be floating above the ground with the support of a single vertical rod covered in green material, which matches his robe, creating an interesting visual effect. There is a tip jar placed in front of him on the green cloth that is laid on the pavement. In the background, there are cars and a taxi with an advertisement on it, suggesting this performance is taking place in a city area, near Trafalgar Square in London according to the sign seen behind.

"When you trust your inner guidance and begin moving in the direction of your dreams (aligned with your individual gifts) you will be cloaked in an armor bestowed upon you by your guardian angel."

This image features the interior of a beautifully decorated dome, likely from a cathedral or a significant historical building. The dome's ceiling is adorned with intricate frescoes depicting various figures, which could be religious or mythological scenes. Directly at the center of the dome is an opening or an oculus, which allows natural light to illuminate the artwork inside.

The frescoes include detailed images of people in various poses and interactions, set within architectural settings that include columns and arches. Surrounding the central opening are decorative patterns and designs that embody a classical style, with elements like rosettes and detailed moldings, adding to the ornate and grand atmosphere of the space. The mix of art and architecture highlights the skill and aesthetic sensibilities typical of Renaissance or Baroque periods.

Great view on the St. James’s Park, looking like the Island of #Avalon expecting our visit...

"When waters stirred lay silent
Mistress let the mists descend
Thy tears cannot thaw Death's cold heart
His sombre gaze defies legend
More so than thine lest thy dew-lidded eyes
Art for the Banshee's song
Or our souls entwined like vein upon
The haunted shores of Avalon"

(CRADLE OF FILTH, "The haunted Shores of Avalon")

The image shows a serene park scene featuring a pond or lake with a fountain at its center, creating a vertical spray of water. Surrounding the pond are lush trees and some shrubs along the water's edge. The area is bathed in soft, warm light, likely indicating either early morning or late afternoon. In the background, there appears to be a more open space, possibly a field or a distant part of the park, with buildings faintly visible beyond the trees. This setting looks peaceful and is probably a popular spot for relaxation and enjoying nature.

The Anchor is a pub in the London Borough of Southwark. It is in the Bankside locality on the south bank of the River Thames, close to Southwark Cathedral and London Bridge station. A tavern establishment has been at the pub's location for over 800 years and I stumbled upon this great scenery by coincidence back in 2015.

This image shows the exterior of a British pub called "The Anchor." The pub features a classic brick facade with red window frames and doors. There are various signs, one of which advertises a Sunday roast and another pointing to the main entrance and roof garden. Greenery decorates the building, adding a welcoming vibe. There are also several blackboards and barrels used as decorations outside, typical of a traditional pub setting.
