@_hypocaust Absolutely. I have been thinking of other lucky escapes. In ODI terms there is Pakistan against England in the 1992 men's world cup - Pakistan 74 all out and then it rained. The overall champions are probably Northamptonshire, from a game against Gloucestershire in 1907 - Gloucs 60 and 88, Northants 12 and 40-7 when the rain made its final intervention.

Match abandoned due to rain, meaning that England take as undeserved a point as you will ever see, since there is no result.

The rain has returned, which may give England one of the most undeserved escapes in cricket history (it would be a big claim to say most undeserved - e.g. Gloucestershire v Northamptonshire in 1907 - Gloucestershire 60 and 88, Northamptonshire 12 and 40-7 when the rain made its final intervention)

Pakistan's target has been revised down to 113 - punishment for England for having lost seven wickets before the rain came, which means that the reduction in overs is not considered to have cost them as many runs as it would had they more wickets in hand.

England end their reduced allocation of 31 overs on 133-9, which means they have scored 54-2 in the six overs since the resumption after the long rain break. The total will be DLS adjusted, so we don't know exactly what Pakistan are going to be chasing yet.

Covers coming on with England 79-7 after 25 overs. There is generous scope for interruptions, but the rain in Sri Lanka can be exceedingly heavy. England will be hoping for something positively Noachian as that is the only way they are getting anything from this one. Pakistan will be hoping it eases off in time for resumption.

Capsey goes for the sweep, misses, is hit on the pad and given LBW. She sends it upstairs in desperation. No bat involved, so on to ball tracking. Replay shows it to be plumb, which in fairness Capsey didn't really doubt, it was a review born of desperation. England 78-7, Capsey gone for 16 (43), Rameen Shamim the wicket taker. Em Arlott, playing her first innings of the tournament, joins Charlie Dean.

LBW appeal against Dunkley is turned down on field, and sent upstairs by Pakistan. No bat involved, and it is smashing into off stump. Dunkley gone for 11 (21), second scalp for Sadia Iqbal and England are 57-6 in the 12th over and in deep trouble. Charlie Dean is a useful lower order batter, and none of Arlott, Glenn or Smith can be labelled rabbits.

Yet another failure in the middle order for Emma Lamb, bowled by Sadia Iqbal for 4 to make England 54-5 in the tenth over. Bad batting, trying to play a spinner off the back foot.

England 40-4 at the end of the seventh over, and as that scoreline suggests Pakistan have produced a mixture of the unplayable and the appalling. Inswingers have been doing the damage - that type of delivery has got all four wickets.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorldCup #EnglandvPakistan

Inswinger raps Knight's pads, the appeal is accepted and England go upstairs. Ball tracking shows the ball hitting the top of leg stump and Knight is out for 18 (17) to make England 39-4 in the seventh over with three scalps now for Sana. Emma Lamb is the new batter.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt gets an inside edge into her middle stump against Fatima Sana to go for 4 (10) making it 38-3 in the seventh over. Two wickets for Fatima Sana so far. Dunkley joins Knight.

Another inswinger, another appeal, turned down and sent upstairs by the bowler. Impact is outside the line so the decision will be upheld and Pakistan have burned a review.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorldCup #EnglandvPakistan

Knight given LBW to Fatima Sana. At her skipper and batting partner's prompting she reviews it. The question is whether it did too much and would actually have missed the leg stump. The replay shows that it would have been lucky to hit a fourth stump such was the margin it was missing leg by.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorldCup #EnglandvPakistan

Fatima Sana bowls Amy Jones for 8 (8) and England are 22-2 in the third over, with both openers gone. Sciver-Brunt will join Knight for what is suddenly a rather more important partnership than they might have expected when the innings started.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorlkdCup #EnglandvPakistan

I am glad to see that England are batting first - this game will probably last longer that way round given that Pakistan's highest total of the tournament so far is a beggarly 159.

For the second time in two matches Nadine de Klerk finishes things with a six, this time with three balls to spare. South Africa win by three wickets, a result that flatters them.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorldCup #BangladeshvSouthAfrica

Final over about to start, South Africa need 8 to win with three wickets standing. Nadine de Klerk lucky twice in that over.
#cricket #WODI #WomensWorldCup #BangladeshvSouthAfrica

Ritu Moni done for the day, with 10-1-29-1 to set alongside her cameo of an innings that helped get Bangladesh to a defensible score.
