Aujourd'hui, j'ouvre l'ordi #Windows11 d'une cliente qui a des problèmes avec son traitement de texte.
* Elle a installé #Word, mais ça lui demande de se connecter
* Elle a installé #WPSoffice mais il faut subir une dizaine de clics pour accéder à l'interface
Et avec tout ça, son ordi rame.

Petit nettoyage (mais pas de miracle, c'est Windows), mises à jour, rapatriement des fichiers volés par #OneDrive, suppression de #Norton et surtout : Installation d'une sélection de #LogicielsLibres :

#NotLegalAdvice aber allein das Risiko entsprechender #Massenüberwachung und #Datendiebstahl und nicht-existierender #Rechtsstaatlichkeit (weder müssen Betroffene benachrichtigt werden noch gibt es Rechtsmittel um.die Rechtmäßigkeit anzufechten) machen #Microsoft365 / #Office365 genauso untauglich wie #AlibabaCloud & #WPSoffice [aus der "V.R." China]!

Und ich kenne keine*n Jurist*in die für Microsoft die Hand ins Feuer legen! Hab' auch nur value-removing #Reseller gesehen die was anderes behaupten!

В очередной раз поймали #Microsoft на отправке содержимого документов на свои сервера. Вообще любых документов, открываемых или создаваемых в #Excel да #Word.
Причём это полагается допустимым по соглашению с пользователем продукта:

«В степени, необходимой для предоставления служб вам и другим лицам, защиты вас и служб, а также для усовершенствования продуктов и услуг Microsoft вы предоставляете Microsoft всемирную безвозмездную лицензию на использование интеллектуальной собственности, связанной с вашим содержимым, например на копирование, сохранение, передачу, переформатирование, отображение и распространение вашего содержимого в службах при помощи средств коммуникации»

Вот и спрашивается, почему это да с какого перепугу люди/организации/государства отказываются от #MSOffice? Особенно всякие там чиновники в госорганах с корпорациями — шпионаж с утечками данных никто ещё не отменял.

Какие есть альтернативы?

Всё перечисленное можно использовать на #linux, отказавшись тем самым и от #Windows тоже.
Сам выбрал LibreOffice и несколько лет назад, и потом, когда по работе, обязанностям должностным, довелось пользоваться и OnlyOffice/Р7-Офис и MyOffice/МойОфис, причём будучи в контакте с теми, кто их делает.

#Microsoft продолбало последний оплот своего финансового успеха среди программных продуктов. Теперь в корпоративном мире и госсекторе (b2b & b2g) будет выживать уже лишь за счёт облачных сервисов и платформы (что откровенно затруднительно с такой уже хреновой репутацией).

I will attest however that my experience with @googleworkspace may be less @microsoft @windows11pro22 friendly -- for, mustn't you concede-- since the release of #Windows11 everything is Unified now. @textovervideo @itsfoss From my experience, the list of best #office suites on #Linux is much shorter and in that order:

1. #LibreOffice / #Collabora Online
2. #SoftMaker #FreeOffice (Non FOSS)
3. #ONLYOFFICE
4. #WPSOffice (Non FOSS)

I think, we can safely remove Apache #OpenOffice and #Calligra from the list, since they are not really actively developed anymore. #CryptPad seems to have much less functionality.

Now turns out #WPSoffice that is otherwise comparable with #MicrosoftOffice has a simple feature of 'search within document' missing on its android app, but on other had #GoogleDocs can search inside document (find and replace button/tab) and also search selected text on document externally on your default browser search engine (search icon on keyboard). This example, to reiterate what #BillGates quotes above, shows again that when many are trying to build something (here build a note/doc app), #Google's way of building it (here Google Doc app) is better. I also got the new #GoogleKeep note taking app, and will try it out in future when need arises, but for now #GoogleDoc is what I'm using for my article 'Causal Climate Change Environment, Beyond CO2: Cow burp and MethaneSAT' , and in one click #GoogleAssistant is doing #TextToSpeech to read aloud to me my draft writing and also read out to me the online references I'm using, not to mention #GoogleAssistant is also taking written notes of my #dictation (writing down what I say). I usually do this #TextToSpeech #dictation with #Apple #Siri #Mac #iPad #iPhone but now on I will do this with #Google #Android #GoogleAssistant too, don't be jealous #Siri and #GoogleAssistant you're both the apple of my eye i.e. I like you both equally! :)

@VerseAndVermin that reminds me that #wpsoffice https://www.wps.com/ and #freeoffice https://www.freeoffice.com/en/ exist as pretty good alternatives to #msoffice (multi-platform), and if the #opensource #onlyoffice doesn't fit all your use cases you might want to give them a spin.

WPS Office was generally better/more powerful in my experience, with better support for unicode fonts, better spreadsheet power-user functionality, etc in my experience. Both are free for personal use.

In #China wird die landeseigene Office-Software #WPSOffice von #Kingsoft immer bedeutender. Ministerien, Behörden, öffentliche Verwaltungen beisielsweise stellen mehr und mehr um - und nutzen WPS statt den westlichen Marktleader...

WPS ist z.B. auch für Android verfügbar und bei den Global-Versionen von #Xiaomi vorinstalliert #Mobile. Es ist in der Free-Version kostenlos.

Im Gegensatz zu #Libreoffice ist es aber nicht #OpenSource.

A new version to the free (but not open-source) WPS Office is available for Linux. It’s been an age since I last mentioned WPS Office on this blog. The main reason for this is I don’t use office software (and if I even need to, LibreOffice suffices). But I am not everyone; WPS Office has its fans – so this post for is for them, and for those interested in alternative Linux office suites. But before I run through “what’s new” in the latest WPS Office Linux release I should recap what WPS Office actually is. That way those who :sys_more_orange:

Had a non-technical friend who I've helped stay on #ubuntu for around a year for his academic work complain that PowerPoint slides from his professor didn't render well in either #libreoffice #wpsoffice, #freeoffice .

I found that pretty surprising - I'd have expected slideshows to be the easier format, as document and spreadsheet compatibility seems to be much better now in 2023 than two decades ago!
