Y después de 4 dias recibiendo avisos de HOY LLEGA, por fin esta aqui la buscada tarjeta de modem #WWAN para mi #DELL.
Anoche la instalé. No fue fácil porque mis ojos tuvieron problemas para conectar esos pequeños cablecitos de la antena (la edad, eda?). No hubo necesidad de descargar ni instalar nada. La DELL la reconoció a la primera.
Le puse un #SIM de #VirginMobile (que usa la red de Movistar) y les confirmo que ya esta operando perfectamente. Yeiii!

Das was ich will geht einfach nicht ohne neu kompilieren des NetworkManager.

...läuft ja im Grunde schon seit gut zwei Wochen - aber vieles nur "händisch".
Er läuft aber grundsätzlich so gut, dass ich glaube, dass es sich lohnt die Installation und Configuration auch für Dritte einfach zugänglich zu machen.
Klar, ich habe für mich ne fette Latte Scripts die mir dies und das vereinfachen...

@fedora Sadly, #Lenovo wronged me as a professional when they refused to support their "#UbuntuCertified" #ThinkPad #P15v's #WWAN module ( #Fibocom #850GL, based on #Intel's #XMM7360 baseband).
Add to that the discontinuation of any #wired - #USB "ThinkPad Compact Keyboard with #UltraNav" and the only reason I've not retired my #X230Tablet for a @frameworkcomputer / #Framework13 or god forbid some #DIY abomination is my belief in #UseLonger!
@rl_dane I wished @frameworkcomputer would do this too, because #Lenovo has #enshittified the #ThinkPad brand so hard and refused to support me with a #P15v (alongside #Canonical #Intel & #Fibocom with regards to getting the #850GL / #XMM7360-based #WWAN working on this €3,5k+ "#UbuntuCertified" System) that I'm gonna go with a #Framework once my #X230Tablet dies.

Ich bin in den #Sourcen (plain #C) so viel schneller und effektiver - all dieses blöde BlaBla in Handbüchern - ich kann das einfach nicht mit meinem #AuDHS.

Aber seit dem funktioniert alle bisher realisierte Funktionalität (#eth, #wlan, #wwan und #AccessPoint) ziemlich lecker... #RaspAP brauchte User für wlan und wwan - meine Scripte nicht... 🤓 😎
Ich schätze noch 2 Tage... und ich verlinke mein #piSpot Repository - ob das dann noch #PiHole als #Werbeblocker benötigt mag ich mal ganz stark bezweifeln...🤗

Ursprünglich war gedacht mittels #RaspAP und #PiHole einen mobilen Hotspot zu bauen.
Mögliche Internetquellen sollten sein
#eth, #wlan, #wwan + optinal #vpn oder/und #Tor.
#RaspberryPi und #RaspberryPiPico sind als Ziel-Hardware gedacht.
Captive Registrierung sollte automatisch erfolgen und im Passwort-Zweifel auch vom Terminal aus bedient werden können.
Ich hatte das zu 90% ziemlich schnell realisiert - und schon 2 Tage lang in der Stadt alle möglichen Wlan getestet.

What is a problem is that Lenovo doesn't actually #Support even "#Ubuntu #certified" devices like the #P15v and it's #Intel #XMM7360-based #WWAN chip, the #Fibocom #850GL, at all, and they refuse to provide #drivers for it!
@simonzerafa I mean obviously #reuse / #UseLonger is better and if your options are "corporate surplus" or nothing then I'd never judge.
To me it's just that #ThinkPad as a brand has really died as every single Device is a #downgrade in #repairability & #upgradeability compared to my #X230Tablet:
They have #SolderedDownRAM even on P-Series #Workstation machines, not just cheap cheap #Lenovo consoomer devices.
Batteries ain't toolfree-swappable anymore!
#WWAN modules are worse (i.e. #Fibocom #850GL aka. #Intel #XMM7360)
#Linux support gets worse and neither Lenovo nor @ubuntu feel responsible on a "#Ubuntu-certified Workstation" (i.e. #P15v)
Less & Worse #Docking options.
Most machines don't offer Linux or to eveb to opt-out of #Govware noone should pay their overcharged premium for (in fact #Microsoft pays Lenovo $25 for every #Windows #preinstall so they don't ship Linux, they don't even pay the $10 for an #OEM-#UEFI-Key, much less the $135+ of a #SystemBuilder version they charge for!)

Ideally make it like an #image file to put on a #RaspberryPi #CM5 / #CM4 / #Pi400 / #Pi500 / #Pi4 / #Pi5 to work with a bunch of #WWAN modules for #data, #SMS & #calling (needed with some SIMs to get shit done)...
@OldManTV @marcan The only disadvantages the @frameworkcomputer has is that they dont't support #ToolFree #HotSwapping of #batteries (which is essential to me!) nor have a 3rd M.2 (or MiniPCIe) slot for a #WWAN module (which is kinda important for many business setups, but then again could be fixed with like a #5G #module that plugs into the side with an external antenna. Problem may just be size constraints similar to the 2,5G Ethernet adaptor...)

Like its glycol ink refuses to clog and it's easy to refill and reset the cartridges...

Worse are their #ProBook line of #Laptops: They literally "Soft-#VendorLock" their #RAM to #HP-branded sticks, bricking #PXE-boot and requiring people to manually press F1 on the device keyboard EVERY SINGLE BOOTUP / REBOOT with #FUD messages.
On the flipside I use a bunch of #fanless hp #ThinClient|s as #MiniServers, but that's because in #Germany #electricity is absurdly expensive and for just doing #backups and #MediaSharing doesn't draw much power...
The #thinkpad #T540p I picked up at #ewaste was cannibalized: bluetooth/WiFi card, memory, drive & caddy are missing. The memory & drive/caddy are easy; the wireless cards I need some help with.
