Het slechte imago van kwallen is vaak helemaal onterecht, zoals bij deze prachtige oorkwal, aangespoeld op het strand. Aan de kleur van haar geslachtsorganen kun je zien dat het een vrouw is. Haar tentakels zijn voor mensen onschadelijk. Kwallen bestaan voor ongeveer 95% uit water en onder de hoed hebben ze een spijsverteringsorgaan dat kleine visjes en garnaaltjes kan verteren.
