[To the tune of He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands] WE’VE GOT A WAGTAIL, ON THE TUBE!

This little chap was an absolute model passenger, nodding to everyone and dapper, and quietly munching away on some bread, no music, no touching. Then he shat on the carriage floor and ruined everything.

Back in May a walk in Peak District took me along part of the River Wye in Monsal Dale, where I saw a pair of Grey catching Mayflies for their young. Then this female spent a few minutes on a tiny islet closer to me. She had her eyes on the flies... [1/2]

A Grey Wagtail, viewed side-on while standing on a small patch of grassy ground in a river. Her head and shoulders are grey (the head having two white stripes on each side, one running from the beak across the eye, the other from the beak below the cheek). The wings are black with some white showing, the chest, belly and rump are yellow, the flanks are whitish, and the long tail has black and white feathers, with yellow towards the base.A Grey Wagtail standing in some shallows within a river, looking up at the flies above (three, and possibly a fourth very out-of-focus one, can be seen in the photo). She has a grey head and back (the head having two white stripes on each side, the topmost running from the beak and over the eye towards the back of the head, and the other running from the beak and below the cheek to the neck), a yellow chest, black feathers on her wings, more yellow on her rump, and her long tail feathers are black and white.
