More work on my little miniatures-based dungeon crawler project. The game will come with papercraft terrain and minis for people who don't have (or can't afford, or don't have time to paint/build) the more expensive "real" miniatures.

Today, I finally got around to adding a way of displaying an area as flooded. Not sure it 100% works, but it's better than just, "Imagine this is flooded." Super easy to build and looks good IMO.

Doing more play testing on my game. This room slopes down into water and my heroes are encountering some undead warriors and archers, with a rat enemy approaching from the submerged tunnel to the south.

We are fresh from town so we are ready for the challenge but the sinister “white circle of the rat” is somewhere around here…

(I’m using minis here but the game will come with printable papercraft terrain and figures.)

Day 3 at #Origins2025

This morning I goofed off in the vendor hall picking up stuff for friends, chatting with authors, and had lunch.

After lunch, I showed up for the 50th anniversary panel discussion with long time industry folks (including Jim Dietz, the principle of Chaosium, and a couple others I'm less familiar with).

Couple of choice bits; "Origins is better run now, hands down, than it was 15+ years ago. This is smooth compared to how the industry used to be." (Certainly I've seen a continual evolution in the last decade as well)

"Origins was, and still very much is, a gathering where ideas percolate and [lots of new/prototypes] get shown off." (Side note, I very much concur with that)

There are three known people who have been to every one, and two were present in the audience.

Walking to my first game of Stationfall for the day, I snapped a couple of pictures of minis based games and #wargames (titles where known in the alt-text of each pic).

Day 2 at #Origins2025

Opened the day with my traditional game of Fire in the Lake. Someone won on the first coup cause we all goofed off thinking someone else will keep players in check. VC surged by something like 11 points in Monsoon by terrorizing for a 2vp win.

We even triple counted to make sure everything was kosher.

The US/ARVN even jacked aid up to something like 60 so we would have been a force if we could just survive the coup.
