This may be of interest - particularly to my friends in the USA.
The last 6 veterans of the American Revolution were tracked down and photographed before they died.
The story is here

It is clear to me that and its is capable of winning its against the Zionist entity. It is also clear to me that the West which benefits from the occupation would not change its ways till it is all over for them.
Under these circumstances, I think the need for people in the West to demand humanity from their gov't is not to save Palestine but, to save their own soul from a terrible, irrecoverable rot!

Tom Barry was born on 1st July 1897 Killorglin, County Kerry. He was a prominent guerrilla leader in the IRA during the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War. He is remembered for the Kilmichael ambush, in which he and his column wiped out a 18-man patrol, killing sixteen. He continued to be part of the IRA after the civil war and served as its commander-in-chief in 1937, during which he opened contacts with Nazi Germany.

I’m watching TV series ‘Franklin’ on Apple+. I zone-in anytime they mention British General Burgoyne. After his pivotal military failure in America, he eventually ended up in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham as Commander-in-Chief of Crown forces in Ireland. A bell was cast for him in Dublin but it was too heavy to hang. 🔔You can still see it on your way to the IMMA cafe with his name on it. #TBT #Burgoyne #GentlemanJohnny #WarOfIndependence #RoyalHospitalKilmainham #Mastodaoine #Franklin #AppleTV

A still from a television show depicting a person in 18th-century attire holding a piece of paper, with subtitles on screen. Another person is partially visible from the back. There is an ornate background with chandeliers and a wall tapestry. The lady is mentioning General Burgoyne.Man in historical costume stands next to a horse, with caption "General Burgoyne's army is taken."An antique cast iron bell mounted on a frame with inscriptions, displayed indoors. An information board titled "Burgoyne's Bell”:
This bell, known as Burgoyne's Bell, was cast in Dublin in June, 1783 at Pounded and Heavside, founders with an address of 26 Old Church street and 9 Luke street. The bell which cost £62 9s 8d was originally housed in the bell-tower of the Royal Hospital, but was removed and installed in its present position due to its great weight. Lieutenant-General John Burgoyne, to whom the bell is dedicated, became Master of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham and Commander-in-Chief of the forces in Ireland in 1782. He was also privy councillor and colonel of the 4th regiment. Known as "Gentleman Johnny", he is remembered principally as the General who was forced to surrender to the Americans at Saratoga in 1777. Burgoyne was author of the successful comedies The Maid of the Oaks (1774) and The Heiress (1786) which was a great success. In 1743 he eloped with Lady Charlotte Stanley, the daughter of the 11th Earl of Derby, and to escape creditors lived in France between 1749-55. Не was a celebrated character in London society and was the model for the Devil's Disciple in Shaw's play. Burgoyne's love for the stage and his success as a playwright, turned his mind to dramatic writing, and in 1780 the comic opera The Lord of the Manor was produced for which he wrote the libretto founded on Marmontel's Sylvain. He attended the Haymarket Theatre on 3 June 1792 and died suddenly the following day. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

2/2 This was the area where #JamesConnolly recruited the Citizen Army; many of the desperately poor people from this triangle made the core of the 1916 Rising; afterwards, they stood too ready to join the #WarOfIndependence, but the #IrishVolunteers continually told them "We'll ask you when we need you" - they were excluded in the Free State and are now excluded in the Republic

Would You Have Been a #Patriot or a #Loyalist?
artofmanliness.com/character/k

When #Americans think back to the #WarofIndependence, most are apt to feel that, had they lived back then, they would have been #Patriots for sure. In retrospect, the decision to rebel and get out from under the thumb of #Britishrule seems inevitable.

Earlier I said that uS is related to Seven Years' War between European powers and an increase in public debt on European Royal Treasuries.
European dynasties wanted colonies to bear the costs of that war,and potentates in colonies who become rich selling goods to former warring European powers were no longer able to do so in previous numbers.
Other European dynasties that borrowed money from their banks -printed banknotes- to pay for military expenses skyrocketed inflation

The most brutal thing about the Irish Free State's refusal of a proper pension to Thomas Bryan's widow is that they did not properly investigate her claim that he had been at the terrible fight around Clanwilliam House, Mount Street, in the 1916 Easter Rising, and refused her a 1916-connected pension. Here he is listed in the Active Service Unit involved in that fight militaryarchives.ie/collection #ThomasBryan #Executed1921 #WarOfIndependence #1916Rising

@valoisdubins The British took a deliberate decision to try and brutalise the Irish into submission, much like the Russians are trying in Ukraine. It had the opposite effect in Ireland of stiffening the Irish opposition. The same is clearly happening in Ukraine.

The burning of Cork by British forces took place on the night of 11–12 December 1920. It followed an IRA ambush of a British Auxiliary patrol. In retaliation, the Auxiliaries, Black and Tans and British soldiers burned homes near the ambush site, before looting and burning buildings in the centre of Cork. 1/2

“They crossed the Delaware [river] in safety” from “The American Boy’s Life of Washington” (1870). No, i don’t know why girls couldn’t read it. They were better off not reading it in some ways, as it casts the civil war/uprising that led to American independence as Americans vs British, forgetting even Washington himself was English.

@mandypg I don't know about specialist knowledge, but I've researched my own Loyalist ancestor, who was an artificer and was for a while stationed at Carleton Island with Leek's Independent Company. Most of the records I've used came from the UK National Archives, but there is a lot of Loyalist stuff in Library and Archives Canada too. #LoyalistAncestor #WarOfIndependence #Genealogy #CarletonIsland

If you have specialist knowledge in or access to sources of information I have not yet tapped, be it in military records around Carleton Island or related to British artificers in the early 1790s, Irish records, Quebec records that might yield new information, I would LOVE to hear from you.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

I have always been a keen genealogist and had success in tracing the family history of my maternal grandmother, born in USA but from a long line of Québécois – thanks to the meticulous record keeping of the notaries of Quebec and the Quebec Catholic Church.
