Un râle d'eau vu du dessus. Il marche dans de l'eau qui lui arrive jusqu'à mi "cuisses", son long bec rouge pointé vers le bas, à la recherche de quelque chose à magner. L'eau renvoie son reflet ainsi que le bleu du ciel et l'ombre de joncs au milieu desquels ils se cache.

Water rail (Rallus aquaticus) wading in a marshy creek in the Bloeidaal area near Amersfoort. At first I thought it was a snipe, but once I got it in focus it was clearly something more special. There was a second one in the background as well, but that one quickly retreated back into the reeds.

Er zijn best wel veel Waterrallen in mijn #achtertuin het #Rottemerengebied

Als ik mijn rondje fietst hoor je regelmatig overal van die gillende speenvarkens in het riet gillen. Ook de baltsroep in het voorjaar is een apart geluid..

Zien doe je ze bijna niet, alleen eind zomer als het water in de #plasdrasgebieden gezakt is. Dan zie je ze scharrelen op de slikranden langs het riet. #waterral #waterrail #birds #vogels #BirdsinmyBackyard #Zevenhuizerplas #Zevenhuizen

Le râle d'eau est une espèce d'oiseau inféodée aux milieux aquatique et assez farouche. On l'entend beaucoup plus qu'on ne la voit et prendre des photos de l'animal est toujours un petit exploit.
Bon OK, celui-ci n'est pas super dégagé mais il s'est littéralement endormi au bord de la roselière et est resté de longues minutes, comme ça, immobile et visible.
Cette photo n'a rien d'épique, c'est un coup de bol et c'est bien comme ça. Ça montre que la photo animalière c'est aussi une grande part de chance et c'est accessible à pas mal d'amateur'ice

Un râle d’eau et un ragondin en train de patauger au bord d’un marécage. On voit des roseaux en arrière plan, l’eau calme et miroitante du marécage reflète la couleur dorée des roseaux et du soleil de fin de journée.

Over at Lackford Lakes we heard the unmistakable call of a Water Rail. After a bit of a wait it briefly showed a glimpse of itself at the edge of the reeds.
