A docked vessel at “Weespertrekvaart”. A waterway that was dug in 1️⃣6️⃣3️⃣9️⃣ as a fast (water)way between Amsterdam and Weesp, which was then known for its gin. 🍸

Horse-drawn tow barges used the canal, pulled along a towpath that still partly exists today. 🐴 🐴

Now it’s a peaceful, green stretch of water between city and nature. Cyclists, rowers, and walkers enjoy the route. 🏙️ 🏃‍♀️ 🍃 🌱
