Green ocean water, and a wave crashing among dark brown rocks sticking up out of the water. We see a light green curl of wave on one side and churning white water splashes thrown up all across the image and a little against the rocks.
The lighting is a little low, suggesting an overcast day.
The biggest white splash of water above the wave has protrusions and lighter and darker sections, which can suggest shapes of other things, like clouds are known to do.

A lone gull, wings spread, flying over the ocean right near the beach on an overcast day. The ocean is pretty calm, with just small waves breaking at the shore.

This is one of my favorite effects of ocean water- the bands of different shades of color between us and the horizon.

Extreme zoom of a tiny shore bird (Red-necked Pharalope), beak open, calling to its flock mates as it trots across the beach. The beach is made of mostly dark pebbles and has been inundated with velellae (by-the-wind sailor jellyfish). The foreground and background are both out of focus, creating a vignette for the bird. The beach pebbles were built up into a kind of berm during the previous high tide so the cresting, frothy wave in the background appears closer due to the camera perspective. Lot of birds soaring over the ocean right next to the shore at Half Moon Bay State Beach. The waves are very gentle. There are a few streak of white clouds in the blue sky, and the ocean is a dark blue.

On one side the curl is closing, creating a rounded white roil of water. On the other side, the wave is still cresting and curling over, green and white curling shapes tipping over the top and starting to form droplets and puffs and splatters of water overhanging the wave beneath. The wave must be pulling up sand, because the wave under the curl is very dark at a few points, dark greenish browns in the shadow of the curling water above them. They almost look like cave entrances under the wave’s curling top.
