I just noticed that the Wayland ext-image-copy-capture-v1 protocol allows a client to get the current cursor position on an output via the ext_image_copy_capture_cursor_session_v1::position event.
It's a roundabout and hacky way to get the mouse coordinates, but it technically works. This could potentially be used to implement fun stuff that previously wasn't easily possible on Wayland and required X11, like X11 oneko.
