Hey fedi, especially searxng/invidious/redlib/etc. instance admins!

I want to create yet another #webring (like fediring), not for random blogs, but for servers providing privacy frontends, proxies and useful opensource tools.

This would help small projects gain some popularity (no point in proxying when there's only one user!) and would form a list of trusted projects.

First thing I'd like to ask if I'm not re-inventing something.

And secondly, the only domain I have is dc09.ru. Afaik, RU TLD is blocked only in Ukraine, they can use a proxy. But anyway, probably it'd be better to host a webring on a separate domain (instead of a subdomain) and preferrably not a country-code TLD, i guess?

¿Conocen algún #webring de sitios en español?

Many thanks to @lorenzosmusic for having me on their podcast! I've never done anything like that before, hopefully I managed to not sound too much like an idiot!

If you want to hear me talking about stuff like the #Faircamp #Webring, #FairTradeMusicFriday, Image2Midi and of course #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave, you can find it hosted by the lovely @mixtape folks here:

There's a bit about about Key 13 too...

Joining a webring feels like having neighbors

@ftmf

While it's a good day to buy from Bandcamp today, there are also other places to look for good music from #FediArtists.

If you haven't been around the #Faircamp #WebRing for a little while it might be worth another look - there are several new artists that joined recently, plus existing artists have added new releases.

Sort by "newest" to see the new joiners:

If you have a Faircamp site and want to join, all the info is on the site.

About a month ago I stumbled across this webring.

Webring, I hear you ask, is this 1996? No, this is a current, active . I find that infinitely charming and nostalgic.

It's also how I discovered a thriving community of personal websites: neocities.org, which reminds me of high school, when we'd handcraft each individual page. Again, nostalgia.

This may have led to me researching Jekyll static sites -- but that's another story...

The @TexasObserver might not have been the very, very first of the news teams to get on the web, but... 1998 is still pretty early in my book :P They even tout their trusted progressive webring, though they don't call it that. Was it called that back then? I dunno. My memories of the 1990s internet are hazy at best.

A screenshot, of a PDF, containing high-resolution, black-and-white, and OCR'd scans of The Texas Observer's March 27, 1998 print issue. This screenshot focuses on the bottom half of page 29, wherein, on the left-hand corner, there is an advertisement: "The stories other media somehow left out are just at the end of your mouse. DownHome with The Texas Observer. Now you can read your favorite Observer features on The Texas Observer DownHome Page: Investigative Reporting, Molly Ivins, Jim Hightower, Political Intelligence, and all the rest. Also on our website is a list of progressive organizations on the web --- folks who share your progressive politics. --- the Editors. http://texasobserver.org [artistic rendition of a computer mouse, with its cord reaching off to the side of the ad.]"
