Met onze nieuwe fietsen gaan we weer op ijsjesjacht, ditmaal naar ijssalon I Fiori (Italiaans voor: de bloemen) in De #Lier.

De Lier is een plaats in de gemeente #Westland (Zuid-Holland) met 12.830 inwoners.

De naam van deze plaats komt van het riviertje de #Lee. In geschriften spreekt men van de #Lihora (ook wel #Liora, wat de heldere betekent). Men had het dus over het dorp aan de #Leer, later afgekort tot De Leer.

Een van de bekendste bezienswaardigheden is de beetje scheef staande Lierse #Dom, uit het midden van de 14e eeuw.

Een jaarlijks in augustus terugkomend evenement is de Lierse feestweek, ook wel de #BraDeLier genoemd. Jaarlijks vaart in juni het Varend Corso Westland langs het dorp, een parade van met bloemen versierde boten.

Over #handelsbarierès gesproken, weten we dan wel dat de #EU daar ook niet vies van is? Ook Nederlander is deel van de EU.
We hebben Afrikaanse landen barrières opgeworpen om uiteindelijk minder te exporteren naar #Europa. Groente en fruit is een concurrent voor het #Westland. Wij houden de westlandse telers in het zadel met hun hoge prijzen en hoge winsten door #handelstarieven! Onder die telers zitten slavendrijvers, met al dan niet illegale seizoenarbeiders en die maken woekerwinsten.

Vroeger zeiden ze "de #schoorsteen moet roken". Dit is een zicht op het #Westland met verwarmde kassen vanuit de metro in Hoek van Holland afgelopen koude donderdagochtend. Ik ben benieuwd hoe dit er over een paar jaar uitziet als de #energietransitie doorzet.

Een horizon met heel veel "rokende" schoorstenen bovenop kassen die niet zichtbaar zijn in de foto.

Jaarlijks komen er honderdduizenden op af: het varend corso in het Westland. Maar dit jaar gaat het festijn niet door. De reden: de NAVO-top eind juni in Den Haag.

Westland Lynx HMA8 1:48 scale Airfix kit.

I've been building scale model kits like this since I was in single digits. This was the first since I started on wh40k things and learnt about shading and highlighting etc.

I also added some details:
The air intake grills, cable in the open tail, and cable windings in the winch.
