The bombing happens as the #RSF has taken control of of vast majority of #Sennar state (except for Sennar city) and is engaged in an offensive towards the West, East and South, including #BlueNile and #WhiteNile states.

But none of this will be nearly enough to ensure Burhan's political survival or raise morale. #SAF are overstretched and foreign support is at its peak. It is unlikely that either #Iran, #Russia or #Ukraine will have the capacity and the will to help the SAF any further than they already do.

A possible SAF collapse would first affect those garrisons most exposed, in #Kordofan and in the #WhiteNile region.

Burhan (#SAF) launches offensive to retake #AlJazirah (#Sudan)

The region had been conquered by the #RSF last December, after which they momentarily reached Sennar city and launched raids to the east in #Gedaref state. Sudan's agricultural and economic heartland has been an uneasy prey to digest however. While #WhiteNile and #Sennar states were poorly defended and should have been easy targets, Hemedti's forces were grounded by widespread looting first, and SAF airstrikes second.

Clashes are sporadic in Al Fasher (North #Darfur). The states of #WhiteNile and #Sennar are poorly defended and in imminent danger, despite Malik Agar's (Nr 2 of the #TSC) efforts to keep the #RSF away from the #BlueNile state.

This new victory opens the way to state capital Al Fulah (West #Kordofan), as well as a number of oil fields, including contested Heglig, Fulla and Deffra, in #Abyei.

It also puts the RSF on a collision course with #SouthSudan and #SPLMN.
